We do seem to quote Abraham Lincoln here a lot. But today it’s not going to be his public sentiment quote, although that certainly explains this election. Today we’re going to quote him saying: “You can fool some of the people some of the time but you can’t fool all of the people all of the time.” To which I’ll add, “And you’re not going to fool enough of a disgusted electorate to get to 270 with a rehash of your tired old drivel.” As you have observed Trump is merchandising non stop. We see one new product/scam daily. Today he’s back to his digital trading cards. Now I know this bores the hell out of so many people here. Believe me, we don’t get a lot of views on the Trump merchandising shills because the crowd who comes here to read flat out doesn’t care about how this fool fleeces his rubes.

And I completely get that. But here’s the spin and why you might want to start taking notice of this phenomenon. This is going to be the way by which Trump trips over the shoelaces of his own golden sneakers and goes flat on his face. Ron Filipkowski has been saying for over a year now that the Democrats should use Trump’s advertising against him. Here, let him explain it.

I wholeheartly agree. If I was going to do the ad, I would intercut Trump’s marketing with images of all his businesses going down the tubes and I would say, “You’re being played. This is the only way this man can make money.” I know you’re thinking, “MAGA doesn’t hear anything against their Messiah” and i agree. But something made a lot of Trump voters in 2016 not vote for him in 2020 — even though there was a high turnout and paradoxically, he got 10 million more votes in 2020 than he got in 2016, he lost a lot of his 2016 votes and Joe Biden was able to win by over 7 million.

I honestly think that the country is sick of Trump. The GOP still props him up because they’re desperate. They’ve had a vacuum of leadership for the past nine years now and this is all they’ve got. But they know that the likelihood of Trump bringing home another victory is lessening by the day as they see the freight train 2008-esque energy of the Harris/Walz campaign.

I predict two things:

  1. Trump will continue to roll out new merchandise in the next 71 days;
  2. That fact can and should be used against him to cook his own goose.

He’s laying himself bare for everybody to see. He’s a grifter. And his kid, Barron, is learning the way of the grift. When the right-wing influencer who danced with Trump at Mar-a-Lago to the tune of YMCA and presented Trump with a car painted with the assassination attempt (which is the MAGA equivalent of the Last Supper) it was found out later that the car was rented for the photo op. It was also found out later that the gold Rolex presented to Trump actually went to Barron, because he brokered the deal.

This is who these people are. America has become a reality TV set and 330 millon of us are extras to this show about a megalomaniac who is grifting us while pretending to be some anointed leader sent by God to lead us. The premise is too batshit for Hollywood — but not for politics. Not when you have a Republican party that has crashed and burned to the ground and is now scraping for bare survival amongst its own ruins.

Desperate times call for desperate measures and this shitshow is produced and directed by the Republican party. That’s the real problem. This is not your father’s or grandfather’s GOP and that’s why this utter madness is allowed to continue in this land. That’s our national tragedy, not the floofy haired idiot but the collapse of one of the two national political parties. And God alone knows where this is going to lead us to next.

  1. I hope the Harris Walz team has some sharp, young, tech-savvy types to get all over this. I agree it might be quite effective for the undecideds and such. Even might peel away some MAGAs.

  2. Yup, as you say “… the country is sick of Trump. The GOP … they’re desperate … [with ] a vacuum of leadership … and this is all they’ve got….”

    • I’m surprised he hasn’t been bottling his urine and selling it as “Trump beer” to the rubes.

      Or “Trump’s Miracle Water” to the MAGAngelicals. (Of course, that might tick off Peter Ripoff–I mean, Popoff.)
