You’ve read the pieces here and elsewhere about Donald Trump and his padded “middle linebacker” shoulders. The tailors of Trump world are trying to design garments that will flatter him but look at what they’re trying to package. It’s like trying to package a pear in a Hershey bar wrapper. I’ll tell you, they get my respect. I wouldn’t want to try to figure out how to put lipstick on this particular pig. Trump, as you’ve heard, claims to be 215 pounds. Now let me disclose something to you. I’ve had weight issues my entire life. Right now my weight is down but not as much as I’d like it to be. But my absolute top weight in my life was 220 pounds. And I swear to you, I never looked as bad as Trump does — and I’m 5’5″. Gospel truth. Right now I wear a size 12 and at 220 I wore a size 16. I don’t know what Trump’s waist is but it’s got to be 60-something and that is NOT normal in a 6’3″ man who weighs 215 pounds.
What do you notice in this video of Trump at his Bedminster golf course today? pic.twitter.com/4dKffU2IPU

Twitter asks this question, “What do you notice?” in a lot of posts in order to get engagement. I’m not playing into that, I’m merely looking at the actual body of this 78-year-old man, who is probably not one cubit above 5’10” and weighs over 300 pounds. This is what gets girdled and trussed and painted and coiffed like a dandy in the court of Louis XIV, and we are to believe that he’s fit to run this country for four years.
And we’re just talking about his physical being right now, not his mental. His mental status defies description on a daily basis. Listen to this. Trump claims he is 50 points ahead. You cannot make this stuff up. If a Democrat was doing this, every Republican member of both chambers of Congress would be chasing the person with a butterfly net. That is a guarantee.
This is pure delusion, “leading by record numbers.” And he’s only going to Wyoming or Montana to *help* “senators and congressmen.” Hey, with *help* like this, I hope nobody tries to harm these Republican candidates. Trump was a great help to the GOP in 2020, you may recall, losing the White House, Senate, and House. That’s a rare achievement. Check out the history books. The last president to lose all three levers of power was Herbert Hoover in 1932. That’s almost 100 years ago.
Another jewel in the Republican crown, Herbert Hoover. Interesting coincidence how the worst presidents in history are always from the GOP, is it not? Hoover, Nixon, Dubya, Trump and I don’t even want to think about who they’ll run in 2028.

They are going to have to try VERY hard to come up with a worse President than Trump.
But we’ve all seen what they’ve done in the past when they come up against ‘lowest’ limits.
Having said that, worse than Trump? Is it really possible?
Not for a lack of trying. Too much $$$ burning a hole in 1% pockets. And the media is not going to learn any lessons. Both have no shame.
We thought the bottom of the barrel was w. Remember that? lmao Nowhere NEAR the bottom of the barrel. I think the magat party will always be able to find scummier scum at any time.
I grew up being told to never forget: no matter how bad things are, they can *always* get worse. That was my pop’s Golden Rule and it stood him well thru much of the last century.
You are absolutely right. We have a complicit media who is beholden to Trump. Or, at the very least, who doesn’t want to alienate him. This was not the case back in the days of Watergate.
The “u.s. will be a failure if Harris is elected” statement is interesting. I mean, after all, we managed to rebound after the miserably failed shitzi administration so I’d say our nation is fairly resilient and having a competent administration, Harris, after a competent administration, Biden, we ought to be able to fix pretty much everything von shitzi fucked up over his four years. If dems were competent at electioneering (and unfortunately they are lacking in this area), they would be touting shitzi’s numbers when he left office…hell, when he was IN office. The country took a nose-dive and it started it’s descent in February 2017. This stuff is readily available and ought to be added to the rest of the dem’s spiel.
Let’s go for a clean sweep. trump’s presidency was predicated by fraud. In a just world his official acts would be considered null and void, including his nominations to the Supreme Court, who would further insult justice by making those acts above the law. President Biden did a magnificent job in cleaning up the mess trump made, but detoxifying the Court will be a task left for Harris. She can only do it with both houses of Congress firmly on her side.
The thing that gets me is that when you look at the country as a whole, Trump has NEVER been popular. He wouldn’t have ever been president but for our bizarre electoral system, where votes are not equal. But has always been portrayed in the media as if he were very popular. Just the free media coverage alone would go a long way towards sustaining this illusion. Also te mere fact of being president or even ex-president, and of being Der FĂĽhrer of one of our two major parties, which pretty much covers our whole political system. And major media have always fawned over his fans — interviewing locals in a local diner after a gun show in some obscure town somewhere for their views on Trump’s tax policies, you know what I’m talking about — and ignored the greater number who hate his guts. Whenever I have tried to make this point in the past, many reacted as if I was crazy. Yes, of course Trump is extremely, yugely, popular — with those he is popular with! Duh. The problem has been disproportionate coverage, on the principle, I suppose, of “man bites dog.” Although it seems in the process we lost sight of the normal some time ago.
Superman? Maybe amongst the stupidly obese riding their scooters at the Village in the sudenland down south where the nazi ruler wears white go go boots!
Every now and then the Opera browser app on my tablet includes a letter to the editor of The Villages News, and lately, as often as not, the sentiment is anti-Trump. It’s surprising in a way, as the paper has earned a solidly conservative reputation over the years.
Also surprising was the repost I saw (it may have even here on PZ) of video from X/Twitter of the 500-golf-cart show of support for VP Harris at The Villages last month. Kinda looks like some of the Yankees transplants woke up, no?
