Oh what fun the next 86 days will be. #TrumpIsDone has been trending for two solid days now. Maybe it will become the most prolific hashtag on Twitter until #TrumpIsGone shows up. Or #TrumpInPrison will do just fine. There are many good post-Trump scenarios which will do just fine, but let’s follow the yellow brick road and see exactly how we’re going to get there. For now, there’s another New York Times/Siena Poll which is out.
The last one had Joe Biden trailing six points in Pennsylvania. Ouch. That advantage has now been erased. Kamala Harris has come up ten points, erasing Trump’s advantage and now leading him by four points in the Keystone State. Also the last poll had Trump tied with Biden in Michigan and Wisconsin, now it shows Harris up four points. How is Donald taking this? “The campaign is clinging to an alternate reality where losing is winning,” says Meidas Touch. That’s how.
Throughout this election cycle, Donald Trump has liked to proclaim he is “leading in the polls by a lot.” Yet, as now every major poll has shifted into Kamala Harris’ direction, Trump and his campaign have resorted to now calling the polling “fake.”
As the race for the White House intensifies, the Trump campaign’s strategy appears to be less about winning hearts and minds and more about creating a smokescreen to obscure the mounting evidence that the election is quickly slipping away from them. […]
In a move that strains the limits of political spin, the Trump campaign has reacted to a new New York Times/Siena poll—showing Kamala Harris ahead in crucial battleground states—by bizarrely declaring that the results actually signal a win for Donald Trump. According to the poll, conducted from August 5-9 among likely voters, Harris holds a 50-46 lead over Trump in Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, and Michigan—states that could make or break the 2024 election.
Despite these numbers, the Trump campaign has insisted that the poll is fundamentally flawed and biased, asserting that it “dramatically understated President Trump’s support” among both registered and likely voters. The campaign’s statement, dripping with desperation, claims that Trump is actually leading among independents and has significantly improved his standing among Black, Latino, and Asian voters compared to 2020. They argue that the poll’s so-called “unrepresentative weighting scheme” and the discrepancies between the recalled 2020 vote and the actual results mean that Trump is, in fact, winning. Like, we said: desperate.
Look, if Donald Trump has a better method of doing scientific polling than the professional pollsters, nothing would be more welcome. He needs to bring it on. Because if there is one institution that has suffered more than the Republican party these last eight years, it is the industry that does scientific polling. If you go back to November, 2020, just before the election,Trump was kvetching at that time very much like he is right now. Let’s stroll down memory lane.
Polls that show him trailing Joseph R. Biden Jr. — virtually all national polls — are simply “fake news.”
The president’s blinkered view has created something of an alternate universe, one not governed by polling averages or independent analysis but by declarative statements that, at times, feel as if they are coming out of nowhere.
This month, Mr. Trump proclaimed on Twitter that he was “winning BIG in all of the polls that matter.”
Such polls seem to boil down to Rasmussen Reports, which consistently — and in isolation — has a rosier picture for the president nationally than other surveys do, and the Trafalgar Group, which has had better numbers for Mr. Trump in Midwestern states.
That’s from the New York Times in 2020. The article also quotes Jared Kushner as saying that there are a “lot of snake oil salesmen” in polling and he ought to know a conman when he sees one. You notice that Jared is nowhere near his father-in-law this time out.
Here’s the bottom line: the polls are only going to get worse. #TrumpIsDone is trending because all signs point to that. I mean ALL.

The election has turned into a contrast election and Trump/Vance can’t compete against Harris/Walz. The polls are only going to get worst. Trump’s rallies — should he bother to campaign — are only going to get smaller. The September 10 debate is going to be a blowout.
And Trump knows all this. And he feels the icy grip of fear on his entrails. Sweat pours down his brow and streaks his makeup. Because the humiliation of losing the election — again — is going to be bad enough. But unlike 2020, Trump has three criminal trials to attend. He can lie to the MAGAs that the classified documents case in Florida was dismissed but it was not. Nor was the election interference case in Georgia. Nor was the January 6 case in Washington, D.C. And who knows? Maybe E. Jean Carroll will sue him a third time for defamation if he can’t keep a civil tongue in his head.
Each day Trump will unravel just a little bit more. And the reality of this is that he did it to himself. Here is the best image of the state of the Trump campaign right now.

#TrumpIsDone indeed!
von shitzinpants fears being punished, finally, for all his crimes. Perhaps. I still think the corrupt xtians on the s.c. might bail his ass out. You might think they owe him not even the time of day if he doesn’t get elected, and they don’t, but I do think they’d like to show progressives and the new team in the w.h. that they are still the bosses of our nation…for as long as they can I guess. A good republican/magat ass whipping would also allow for the corrupt ones to be removed and the entire shebang to be remade.
Three things I have no faith in or use for because they are based on conjecture and opinion rather than fact…..
1. Futurecast weather radar
2. Ranking where a team will finish the season before the season begins
3. Political polling
I recall in the 2016 Dem primary the polls had Hillary up by 22 points on Sanders in Michigan the night of the vote…..when it was all done, Bernie won by 2 points.
Take polls with a block of salt.
PS….Ursula…..I thought you and Murf would be at the rally in LV tonight.
I hope all is well.
When Trump talks about winning all the polls that matter the only polls that matter to him are the ones shown to him that have him winning “bigly.”
KARMA LA!
I agree that trump is on the verge of loosing to Kamala/Waltz, however, what keeps popping up in my mind is a statement from a sc justice that this could be 2000 all over again. Remember when when the judge in Leon Cty Fl stated they found uncounted ballots favoring Al Gore, scalia stepped in and appointed bush president. This could happen again
