A lot to unpack here. First of all, bear in mind two things, one that John Bolton hates Donald Trump and two, that John Bolton considers himself the smartest guy in any room that he’s in. That’s just his default position, true or untrue, wise or unwise. With those two givens, Bolton is going to tell the truth in this instance because he has nothing to lose. Now on the other side of the coin, the only reason that Bolton is there at all is because he’s a right-wing voice and as such, he’s expected to stick to certain talking points. And therein lies the conflict. No wonder this Newsmax host is ready to blow a gasket.
“That was Trump’s deal…You don’t know what you’re talking about.”

You see why Bolling is not having a good day. But the fact is, if anybody is in a position to know it’s Bolton and not Bolling and that’s why Bolton isn’t letting himself be guided into saying what he doesn’t want to say, or in saying anything other than what he knows the deal to have been, because he was there.
Bolton is one of the Republicans who said he won’t vote for Trump — but he won’t vote for Harris, that’s for certain. He will “probably do a write-in vote.” And whose name will he write in? Dick Cheney. Bolton said that a few months ago. And actually, it would be a hell of a lot saner to have Cheney on the GOP ticket than Trump. Either Cheney.
And in point of fact, Cheney basically was the president for eight years, Dubya just got up and was the front man for the band in those days. But Dubya wasn’t the brains, Dick was. One of my favorite movies from those years was The Day After Tomorrow where a Dubya-esque American president literally didn’t have the brains to get out of Washington when a sudden climate change catastrophe plunged North America into an ice age and the Cheney-esque vice president took over for him.
Back to 2024, John Bolton has no fucks to give. He’s going to get out in front of the cameras — assuming he gets invited to speak anywhere again — and speak his mind and part of that mind will emphatically not be to endorse Trump or anything that happened during Trump’s administration.
So maybe this was Bolton’s swan song, who knows? But it was comical to watch Bolling lose it trying to steer Bolton back on course and Bolton, the smartest guy in the room, deliberately ignoring the cues and antagonizing Bolling.

If you want to watch a movie detailing the machinations of Cheney and Bush, you can’t do better than watch the 2018 movie ‘Vice’, starring Christian Bale as Cheney. It was brought to us from the same people behind the movie ‘The Big Short’, on the last financial crash. The right wing panned ‘Vice’ when it was released, as it deservedly excoriates them, but it’s startlingly accurate in it’s portrayal of the Bush Presidencies, and it did win some awards.

That is one of my favorite movies of all time. It was a masterpiece.
Never been a fan of Bolton’s, but good for him, standing up to this ignorant ape. Not that facts are going to matter to these a**hats. They have propaganda to deliver and aren’t going to let facts get in their way. But I’m glad to see Bolton standing firm on the truth of the matter. I get tired of hearing about how Biden screwed up Afghanistan, when it was tRump’s deal in the first place.
Cheney may look a little better from a distance, and in those days nobody could have imagined such ascrewball as Trump in the White House. But let’s not all get amnesia, that was a bad time.
It was a horrible time. No question about that. But Trump does that, he makes everything bad look great by comparison.
If you’re having trouble hearing what Bolton and Bolling are saying, or if you do hear it and can’t quite believe your ears, you might appreciate seeing it in black and white:

A day at the zoo. Bolling literally goes ape and Bolton just laughs and taunts him with peanuts. He probably had reservations about taking the NSA job, but thought he could guide the fluffy orange gorilla in the right direction. Nope. Stupid does what stupid is.
God how liars and cult members scream when called out on their lies. Bolton was there…you’re just paid to run your nazi loving cakehole. Squeal piggy squeal…won’t save you from being made into bacon.
