Donald Trump was all hot and bothered over the $52.8 million that he raised in the 24 hours following the hush money trial in New York. He saw that as a positive sign from the electorate and with that, and his bandaged ear, he was planning on walking all over Joe Biden. Except Biden trumped him, you should pardon the expression. Yep, Biden beat him like a drum by walking away from the fight on Sunday, and then Kamala Harris got almost twice as much in donations, at this point $91.5 million in donations — and counting.

So Team Trump decided that they didn’t like that one bit, no siree bob, they did not. Ergo, the Trump campaign’s general counsel David Warrington filed a compaint with the Federal Elections Commission, claiming that the money transfer would amount to “little more than a thinly veiled $91.5 million excessive contribution from one presidential candidate to another,” and is therefore illegal as hell. Kamala Harris’ campaign told Warrington to go pound sand. Here we go:

“Kamala Harris is seeking to perpetrate a $91.5 million dollar heist of Joe Biden’s leftover campaign cash — a brazen money grab that would constitute the single largest excessive contribution and biggest violation in the history of the Federal Election Campaign Act of 1971, as amended,” the complaint said.

Biden, facing mounting questions and calls to drop out from powerful players in his own party, dropped out of the race over the weekend and endorsed his vice president to take over the ticket.

The complaint alleges that if Harris were a candidate for something this year, that federal law “requires her to have filed a Statement of Candidacy and for her name to have appeared in the name of her authorized committee.”

However, Harris’s name “does not appear in the name of her purported authorized committee, ‘Biden for President,’ and, until Sunday, no Statement of Candidacy existed for her,” the complaint said. “Then Sunday, rather than filing her own Statement of Candidacy, she merely altered Joe Biden’s to replace his name with hers.”

The complaint said there is no mechanism under the act where one person can end another’s federal candidacy simply by amending the other’s “Form 2.”

“Moreover, in that purported amended Form 2 Harris designated ‘Biden for President’ as her principal campaign committee and then renamed it. Altering a document submitted to a federal agency is a violation of 18 U.S.C. § 1519.3,” the complaint said.

The Harris campaign told Fox News Digital the complaint was “baseless.”

“Team Harris will continue to build on our more than 250 coordinated offices and more than 1,300 coordinated staffers across the battleground states – just like we built on the $240 million cash on hand that we had at launch this week, raising $100 million in our first 36 hours and signing up 58,000 volunteers,” the statement read.

“Republicans may be jealous that Democrats are energized to defeat Donald Trump and his MAGA allies, but baseless legal claims – like the ones they’ve made for years to try to suppress votes and steal elections – will only distract them while we sign up volunteers, talk to voters, and win this election.”

It will be interesting for one of the heavyweight lawyers on MSNBC to weigh in on this. I haven’t a clue. I speculate that this lawsuit will end up alongside the 60 plus lawsuits alleging election interference. But I’m dying to hear. I’m going to keep a sharp ear out to hear exactly what these buffoons have to say.

Let’s put it this way: ActBlue has been in business a long time and they handle a lot of money. I don’t see them making a rookie mistake. Let’s see this for what it is, one more ridiculous distraction. And more expression of envy.

  1. Wasn’t the campaign ‘Biden/Harris’ – so her name would have been there for donations

I think that Don the Con believes all that cash should go him

  2. They always accuse others of doing what they, themselves, do. Now might be a good time to look into how the Trump campaign is handling it’s money.

How much is going into Trump’s legal fees?

    • Probably a LOT LESS than is going into Trump’s personal checking account(s)–and I wouldn’t be the least bit surprised if a good deal of money has been put into accounts in places like the Cayman Islands (whose banking secrecy laws make the old “Swiss bank accounts” look like matters of public record).

  3. It’s very clear she can raise all the money she needs herself, but of course trump will claim the election was stolen by illegal donations. He should be careful, because his use of funds from the Save America scam is still under investigation.

  4. There was never any consideration during this Presidency of replacing Harris with another VP come re-election time. In fundraising, the lead up to the primaries and during the primaries themselves President Biden was clear that VP Harris was going to remain VP in his second administration. More importantly, unless we’ve been misinformed (and it came up during the weeks after the debate before Biden chose to step aside) ALL ALONG the Vice President’s name and signature has been on all the required filings. The campaign organization papers including fundraising, the various state’s ballot access paperwork etc. I did a recent article about campaign finance and while the laws on the one hand are complex, for an election lawyer it’s actually pretty simple to prepare SIMPLE FEC forms to do all this crap including changing the name of the campaign and fundraising stuff. Or the names on ballots for the Democratic ticket.

Any incumbent President running for re-election, at least someone who unlike Trump knew shit and had highly competent people working for them that also knew shit would cover these kinds of details when dealing with all the structural technicalities of creating a campaign. Regardless of age, if an incumbent is entering the campaign intending to keep their VP then the VP’s name is going to be on ALL the required paperwork. You never know what can happen. Again, it seems some journalists checked into these issues during those agonizing weeks after the debate and if seems Harris name was on everything.

The GOP is gasping at straws. Plastic ones of course (petroleum is needed to make plastic so it stands to reason they’d freak about what straws are made of) but if they want to waste time and effort it’s their choice to do so. The campaign’s lawyers will swat away any motions filed with ease.

    • I have a simple question, with probably an even simpler answer … “Who’s dumber, Trump or his lawyers?” No need to rush, 1) Trump 2) His lawyers

I’m not truly sure, but I believe Trump himself takes the lead … Maybe his current snake pit of lawyers, somehow, arranged for pay-in-advance?

The sweat on Trump’s brow must be atrocious by now, NO TRUMP AS president … NO immunity OR relief from Judges’ sentencing, all his appeals and special claims have been tanked, his claim to be anxious to debate Kamala is bogus, and he knows it, She, like swatting an annoying fly will sacrifice him to the gods of fair play, the ones that actually know stuff, realize her talents extend way beyond a 4-year-old’s simpleton mind span and,
Trump will be needing a real excuse for missing her debate, things are already in an old fashion tizzy in the GOP … no more funds for the shitzgibbon, one massive, formerly promised multi-million dollar, regular billionaire’s gift plan — GONE !!

What’s a crook like Trump to do? … His Maga-gourd brains flash signs around and may actually vote for him, I would venture NONE of them has billions laying around to boost Trump against ALL the criminal charges yet to come … some of his crimes are SO DARK that, the Constitution makes a point of mentioning them as crimes of a traitor, like sending the no-goods to our Capitol building to pillage and murder guards there …

I can’t even think of ANY excuse he could use against taking all those super-secret documents home to obviously sell to the highest bidders … His total lack of secure storage and open displays of piles of documents, could also boost the charges of a traitor to our security and possible revelations to Enemy countries …

By-the-way, WHY were our seals setup for a kill/capture? The only man with a mouth the size of Manhattan, WAS and still is Trump …

  5. There really isn’t a mechanism dealing with a candidate dropping out of an election (for prez) unless I’ve missed something. Von shitzinpants’ f-listers may or may not be fishing here but I would hate for this to go to the corrupt cons at the s.c. since what they would decide on this is a forgone conclusion quite frankly: they can almost taste the proj 1825 screed. In fact, they’d make sure the case was hurried along so they could decide before Nov.

What President Biden did is uncharted territory, again, unless there is some obscure subsection of US election law.

    • Trump’s acorn size brain has two, (2), buttons to push, 1, find how to divert millions into his own pocket, in spite of designations already assigned for something else … Makes his magic transfers what they are, a BIG MISTAKE, as those DA’s and Judges he has been belittling and blaming for personal attacks on himself, will be sure to tack more charges on to those that will eventually cost him 20 or more years to think about his REAL reality …

2, This button is the one we see in action occasionally … Trump’s napping time during even a possible life-changing court appearance … He’s too stupid to understand what is going on around him, so the 2 button gives him some much-needed rest time, his normal load of BS talking points, IS incredible, he talks for hours, NEVER telling the truth once …

    • the vice presidential candidate was the ONLY one who had immediate legal access to all their campaign funds and ground offices because she was part of the same campaign all along. No other replacement could have touched it. (Joe could have handed it to the Dem national PAC legally) Anyone else would have had to start from acratch which is why the idea of dumping the whole ticket was political harakiri.

  6. Trump is no doubt funneling money to himself but I assume he’s doing the same as in 2016, he’s being paid a salary as head of his campaign. as far as I know, no one else has ever done that. and no doubt it’s big.
