A lot of things have gone wrong for Donald Trump lately and to be honest? It’s a bit like watching 2016 again, except with Trump playing the role of Hillary Clinton. Hillary had a lot of baggage, primarily due to 20-some years of right-wing lies being cobbled together about herself and Bill. A lot of that simply didn’t shake off. Then there were the emails. Then there was Comey’s letter in October about the emails. Meanwhile, the 2016 version of Trump could do no wrong no matter what he did. He famously got away with the “Grab ‘Em By The Pussy” crack, to the amazement of all. But 2024 is a different election and nothing is going his way. Let’s start with Elon. He says it’s a lie he promised Trump $45M a month.
“I don’t prescribe to [a] cult of personality,” Musk said. But, he added that Trump demonstrated “great courage” after being shot by an attempted assassin on July 13, and that strength helps intimidate America’s enemies.
Oh, right. Our allies and our enemies, both, saw Trump say, “Oh,” and touch his ear. They then saw him crouch down. They did not see him struck by a bullet, they saw two bloody streaks on his face and a bloody ear. But the legend of the assassin’s bullet has been born so I guess that only a tiny fraction of us will ever even seek out the truth.
Additionally, Musk spoke about the “core values” that make America great, which he thinks the Republican party embodies more so than the Democrats.
“One of those values being meritocracy, as much meritocracy as possible, so you get ahead as a function of your skill, and nothing else,” Musk said.
He also added that one of the principles the PAC aligned with was “freedom,” particularly freedom from “as much government intervention as possible.” The hand of government gets heavier every year, and if we don’t roll back some restrictions and regulations, eventually, “everything will be illegal,” Musk said.
When Peterson pressed Musk for why he was switching to Trump, after long voting Democratic, Musk said that Democrats had become the party of censorship.
He also criticized a lawsuit that the Justice Department—under President Joe Biden’s administration— launched against his company SpaceX, last year, alleging that Musk discouraged refugees and asylum seekers from applying to work at the aerospace company. A court order later blocked the U.S. from pursuing the lawsuit.
Interesting timing for Elon’s switch, huh? Trump’s last rally was in Michigan and he was saying how he “had to make people like that comfortable,” meaning Elon Musk, meaning for giving him $45 million. Oh well, Donald, you’ll have to make it up in sneaker sales, we guess. That’s quite a lot of shoes, $45 million worth. How many ketchup bottles are giving their lives now, after this betrayal by Musk? This average American sums up the sea change that has happened.

It’s interesting when what the average Joe on the street says comports with what the so-called experts are saying. That tells you that there’s a wave of consciousness going on, not just a change of political candidates. Donald Trump is hated. His entire family is hated. And it looks like America is cleaning house and deciding that Trump is going. Even Elon Musk. Now that is hilarious.
Add ‘Accessory to Murder’ to all those other charges?

I’ve had quite the day (not in a good way) so an article I’d planned to write about something I saw yesterday didn’t get written. The article is able Tesla sales going south in a big way. Sure, some rich asshole Republicans would buy a Tesla to show off to certain friends but most of Musk’s buyers were Democrats and Independents that were progressive about climate change and reducing emissions. Musk has pissed off his customers before and both shareholders and directors at Tesla have taken him to task. However, his swallowing up of Twitter and remaking it as part of his HARD turn towards RWNJ politics has badly damaged not just his rep but Tesla’s with the core group of people who’d buy one. Tesla stock is his main asset as I understand things. It’s one thing for him to lose tens of billions doing what he’s done to Twitter/X, but badly wounding if not crippling Tesla sales?
Even someone with Musk’s ego (oh, and meritocracy? You grew up rich asshole! It’s a helluva lot easer to “succeed” when you weren’t merely born on third base but the next batter knocked a pitch over the wall!) has realized that if Tesla goes south, his financial empire is in real trouble. He’ll still be rich of course but far, far FAR from one of those “richest people in the world” types. He’d be just another guy with five billion bucks or so. NOT the kind of guy who can by virtue of his money bully people in power. And he might be forced to sell Twitter/X. How humiliating would it be for him to not have that, have Tesla irreparably damaged (it will survive but be nothing like it was, much less what it could have been) and mostly relying on govt. contracts (like Ross Perot) to maintain his fortune?
It’s too bad Boeing lost it’s mojo and fell so far behind when it came to developing space (especially crewed flights) exploration. That’s what you get I guess for putting sales folks with Wall Street pedigrees in charge (cut costs! cut costs!) instead of engineers having a real voice in management. Oh well.
The point is that I’m not surprised Musk is now walking back that financial pledge. He’ll still use his social media site for ill, and still donate a lot of money to Trump but nowhere near the roughly two hundred million Team Trump thought he’s toss their way!

You’d think that Musk would know the difference between “prescribe” and “subscribe.”
But, the notion that he doesn’t “whatever” to “cult of personality” is laughable on its face. If the band Living Colour were to update their classic “Cult of Personality,” certainly both Donald Trump and Elon Musk would be among those name-dropped as building on that cult. (It’s worth noting that the song does mention “good guys” among the “cult” builders/developers, a point I never found quite appropriate in the lyrics. Sure, you have Gandhi and JFK among the “leaders” but they used their “personality” for good and justice while the bad guys mentioned used their “personality” for self-aggrandizement and personal power at the expense of even their followers. I understood Reid’s intention but it still came off as too much “both sides” for the song to have any real meaning.)
