Mike Johnson can’t cite to a source which compels Joe Biden to remain on the 2024 ticket because there is none. On ABC, Johnson said: “It would be wrong, and I think unlawful, in accordance to some of these states’ rules, for a handful of people to go in a back room and switch it out because they don’t like the candidate any longer. That’s not how this is supposed to work.” “This” that Johnson refers to is delegates choosing a candidate at the convention. That’s exactly how it’s supposed to work.
HuffPost pointed out that Johnson failed to cite a legal doctrine to back this allegation up. But that’s not the point. The point is that the GOP is scared spitless over the advent of a young, sharp candidate with fire in the belly and a united Democratic party behind her. I quoted Abraham Lincoln yesterday and will continue to do so. “Public sentiment is everything. With public sentiment, anything is possible. Without it, nothing can succeed.” And perception is everything. Joe Biden gave the perception of having become enfeebled. That was the GOP’s high card, entire hand and complete deck. Without Senile Old Joe to play off of, they’ve got nothing. They know it and they are drop dead miserable this Monday morning in July.
No more rematch, Donald. No more debate against Biden. What is funny about the June 27 debate is that Trump also did terribly but that was expected, so the publicity all went to Joe Biden’s disappointing performance. All that is gone, now.
Trump is in the lull before the storm. The Democratic convention will go forward, Harris will start to build her momentum and he’s got to endeavor to come up with new talking points and a new game plan. So far that plan is not going well. Take a look.
