The post-debate fragmentation of the Democratic party is the newest talking point in mainstream media these days. Get used to it. It’s the direction that maintream media has decided to run. It involves as many Democrats as possible trashing Joe Biden and declaring an intention to create utter chaos by calling for a different 2024 ticket in the run up to the conventions and the election itself. Make no mistake, this is a choice that assignment editors are making and some Democrats are going along for the joy ride. One is this clown from the State of Maine, Jared Golden, who penned an op/ed today in the Bangor Daily News:
After the first presidential debate, lots of Democrats are panicking about whether President Joe Biden should step down as the party’s nominee. Biden’s poor performance in the debate was not a surprise. It also didn’t rattle me as it has others, because the outcome of this election has been clear to me for months: While I don’t plan to vote for him, Donald Trump is going to win. And I’m OK with that.
There are winners and losers in every election. Democrats’ post-debate hand-wringing is based on the idea that a Trump victory is not just a political loss, but a unique threat to our democracy. I reject the premise. Unlike Biden and many others, I refuse to participate in a campaign to scare voters with the idea that Trump will end our democratic system.
This Independence Day marks our nation’s 248th birthday. In that time, American democracy has withstood civil war, world wars, acts of terrorism and technological and societal changes that would make the Founders’ head spin.
Pearl-clutching about a Trump victory ignores the strength of our democracy. Jan. 6, 2021, was a dark day. But Americans stood strong. Hundreds of police officers protected the democratic process against thousands who tried to use violence to upend it. Judges and state election officials upheld our election laws. Members of Congress, including leaders from both parties, certified the election results.
By the skin of their teeth and under considerable duress, when they got back up from hiding under the chairs with gas masks on. I can’t believe how Golden is whitewashing this.
They all are joined in the defense of democracy by the millions of us who, like me, made an oath of allegiance to the United States and to the Constitution when we began our military service, plus hundreds of millions of freedom-loving Americans who won’t let anyone take away our constitutional rights as citizens of the greatest democracy in history.
This is pure naivete and sophistry right here and completely ignores the existential threat that Donald Trump poses to this nation. I am appalled at this level of ignorance on the part of a Democrat but Golden has been less than exemplary for some years now. This is not the first time he’s caused eyebrows to raise. And he goes on.
This election is about the economy, not democracy. And when it comes to our economy, our Congress matters far more than who occupies the White House.
Sheer ignorance. Sheer, unbridled and unforgivable ignorance. Project 2025 is not about the economy. Project 2025 is about gutting the Civil Service system, the very same system that kept this country up and running when Trump was in office, and replacing it with a bunch of Trump loyalists. Who knows what level of chaos and corruption is possible if Project 2025 actually is undertaken? It’s certainly something we never want to find out. It’s the administrative equivalent of dropping a nuclear bomb to see Project 2025 implemented in Washington, D.C. during a second (and third? fourth?) Trump term.
Golden goes on in this editorial to identify with Joe Manchin, which is not urprising in the least. With Democrats like these, who needs to worry about the other side of the aisle, right?
Golden is living in a dream world. Pollyanna was a harsh, uncompromising realist by comparison. But expect more of this. This is the cutting edge of chaos, right here. People running for reelection this fall now know that if you want to get clicks, views, and engagement, just say that you’re sticking it to Joe Biden and we need another candidate atop the Democratic ticket. That is the mechanism to instant relevancy, right there.
Joe Biden is staying atop the ticket. This is all a media driven manufactured crisis. And it’s not doing our democracy any good. I would say shame on Jared Golden but the man has no shame, clearly. And the shame is ours that he’s got a D behind his name.

Who wants to bet that Golden gets reelected in November as a Democrat then, if Trump is declared the winner, he announces a party switch the next day (especially if the GOP retains the House)?
And, after looking at Wiki’s Maine 2024 Congressional election page, Golden may be shooting himself in the foot (ironically, for a Marine Corps vet) with this op/ed, considering he was endorsed this cycle by NARAL, End Citizens United and the National Education Association. I certainly hope these organizations slap his ass down and tell him not to be taking the threat of Trump so lightly.

What “strength” in what democracy? Certainly not ours and by the look of things around the planet, there is not a safe democracy out there. I’ve not read this level of stupid since I woke up this A.M. so dumb-ass might be headed toward at least nomination for the Biggest F*cking Moron of the Day Award. Everyone misspeaks, I will agree Biden didn’t have a good night. But no one is talking about Trump. His night consisted of I didn’t do anything wrong,I’m innocent,he’s(Biden) is the worse president ever, he(Biden)is going to jail,and I’m getting revenge on everyone.
