Well, this week was a pisser, and  I mean it was like us pissing into a fan. But it’s finally over, and we can relax, decompress, and wash our clothes before we start the same damn thing next week most likely.

But as I went through my day, trying to enlighten and entertain you, I ran across a couple of really funny and uplifting things that didn’t fit in any of my articles, but that I wanted to share with you to brighten your day as much as they brightened mine. So here they are

    • Sirius XM political editor and AM talk show host Zerlina Maxwell was just on The Last Word with Lawrence O’Donnell. She talks to random unsolicited voters every day. She related that when she woke up this morning, she was despondent. But as she started talking to random voters about the debate, the overwhelming majority of callers opined that President Joe Biden on his worst day was still far superior to a candidate of President Trump on his best day. So long, blues
    • In talking on All In tonight about the Supreme Court ordering Steve Bannon to shut up and report to prison, Chris Hayes quipped, basically they told Bannon, you did your part in deconstructing the federal government, we’ll take it from here
    • And the grand Prize Winner! At a rally of faithful bedwetters, Trump said, He wants us to have electric cars, and he wants us to have electric planes. But what if you’re up in the air one day, and it’s cloudy outside? I tried to tell him you’d have a problem with that! The stupid sh*t! First, electric planes would have fully stocked batteries to power the plane. And even if they had solar cells to help power and recharge the batteries, when the average jetliner hits a normal cruising altitude of 27-34,000 feet, they’re at least 5,000 feet above the cloud cover! As a crew scheduler for United, I used ti ride in cockpit jumpseats with pilots. And we all wore sunscreen on our noses and cheeks to protect us from skin cancer

Enjoy your weekend my dear readers!

    • A McJob that doesn’t pay a living wage and nobody wants because it is,always part time and never pays enough. One of our neighbors worked three of them and his wife had a full-time job to pay the mortgage. Their daughter worked one while going to college full-time. Their son ( Chadwick Boseman clone, drop dead gorgeous) was working in high school to prepare for community college before transferring to a 4 year school.

This was,GA. We lived in a,rural.area back then. Only these minimum wage jobs were available. The family had moved there because the schools were better and there, wasn’t as great a gang and drug problem. They were the only Black family in the subdivision. The son was bullied in high school because it was a white rural area.

    • Technically, the flight was in 2015 and 2016. I checked the link and, after completing the leg from Japan to Hawai’i in June of 2015, the batteries overheated (due to too much insulation) and new parts had to be ordered so the plane was stored until April of 2016.

Of course, when you look at the plane’s average flight speed for the course of the flight, we’re looking at a relatively impracticable commercial use. The final average was only 41 knots per hour; most cruise ships travel about 20 knots per hour. Going and doing some extra checking, it turns out that, prior to WW1, most aircraft were able to achieve speeds of about 50 mph (~43kn) but, by the end of that war, they were able to achieve speeds in excess of 140 mph (~121kn). But, guess what? You know how fast that very first flight performed by the Wright Brothers is considered to have been? A speedy 30 mph (~26kn). So, Solar Impulse was still averaging 1.5 times what the Wright Brothers’ plane did and, even a decade after the Wright Brothers’ first “flight,” aircraft were barely reaching that 1.5 times the Wrights’ speed. And then it took 4 years of warfare to lead to a near-tripling of top airspeed. So, just imagine how fast an electric plane could achieve with the appropriate development and research and investment if regular super-old-fashioned aircraft were able to go from 1903’s 30 mph to 1918’s 140+ mph.

      • Not forgetting the Wright Flyer only made a very short hop for all of 12 seconds and covered less than the length of a football pitch (about 40 yards if I can recall correctly).

A minor niggle I have about that – it wasn’t the ‘first flight’ by a long chalk. It was the first heavier than air powered flight (using two German inventions – the glider and the internal combustion engine) But, hey, they were the first to make the combination work.

First flight – Montgolfier brothers in a hot air balloon 1783
First powered flight – Henri Giffard in a steam powered dirigible 1852
First heavier than air flight – Otto Lilienthal in a glider 1894

You know- George Washington could have had an air force if he had waited a few years (he could have used hot air balloons to drop bricks on the Brits’ airports)

  1. I suppose clouds might have been a problem for planes for the “Continental Air Force” back during the Revolutionary War! As you note however, planes fly rather higher now than they did back when there weren’t even such things as airplanes…

    • Yes, but George Washington secured the NY airport by crossing the river in a cruise ship for a,sneak attack on July 4th so now we have a big holiday where we,set up firecrackers to come rate that you juju huge victory. Somehow though those, airports aren’t named for him, but some guy named LaGuardia,,who I think was the Italian dude who ran the hot dog stand for the army.

      Yes, Trumphumpers,are that dumb.

  2. I find it amazing that Biden is being pressured to drop out after ONE debate despite his record of accomplishments and his vision for the future. Where’s the screaming from the electorate about the CONVICTED rapist, tax cheat fraudster, and 34 count convicted felon???? And THAT’S JUST THE TIP OF THE ICEBERG! If there were a real judge in Florida, he’d also be on the hook for stealing national secrets. Remember how Biden was dead in the water after the primaries before south carolina? IT AIN’T OVER TIL IT’S OVER!!!! VOTE!

    • I was actually wondering why the MSM isn’t reporting on tRump’s preformance? The guy NEVER answered a single question and just spouted off a ton of lies, as usual.

  3. Yeah, why are the LW appearing so WEAK?? WTH happened to these Democrat Politicians? Where’s the FIGHT for JUSTICE? Something’s “ROTTEN in Denmark” or Washington DC!

  4. President Biden had a cold, but still showed up and kicked CONVICTED FELON DON VON SHITZINPANTZs a$$! Sorry, but I just love saying CONVICTED FELON DON VON SHITZINPANTZ!

    • Oooo I love that too, thanks Nonya. I’ll adopt that as my go-to-sleep-for-God’s-sake mantra tonight when images of the orange lardass are trying to keep me sleepless.
