There’s the old phrase Those who doe not learn from history are doomed to repeat it. And never has it been more prevalent than it is right now. For, while it might be recent, almost living history, history it is. And it’s enlightening.
Right now, thanks to the revelations in the Project 25 manifesto, there is a maelstrom of rumors and theories swirling around about just what a second Trump term would be like. But you don’t need to wonder or extrapolate about what a second term Trump administration would look like. Just look at his BFF Bibi Netanyahu in Israel right now.
Let’s start at the TOP. If my memory serves correctly, Netanyahu actually lost the last election. He only came to power after his long time rival, Benny Ganz won the parliamentary election, but was unable to cobble together a coalition government in the allotted time frame. Netanyahu immediately cut a Devil’s bargain with every far right, nihilistic yahoo he could find to get a ruling coalition in the Knesset, Israel’s parliament.
When Netanyahu came back in power, both he as well as his wife were under indictment for corruption, and awaiting trial in front of the Israeli Supreme Court. Bibi Netanyahu was kind of like the Richard Nixon of Israeli politics. Not a good thing to be if you’re in control of a shaky coalition government.
So what did Netanyahu try to do right out of the gate? He tried to reform the Israeli judiciary, starting with a law that would allow his friendly Knesset majority to override the decision of the Israeli Supreme Court on any decision he didn’t like. How convenient for a scumbag awaiting trial before the Supreme court on corruption charges.
You are all well aware of the magnificent Pink Pussy Hat March on January 21st, 2017, the day after Trump took office. Well, the Israeli’s had them a Pink Pussy Hat protest too. Only they had a whole bunch of them. Week after week tens of thousands of Israelis took to the streets of Tel Aviv and other major cities to decry the death of Israeli democracy. In the end Netanyahu had to back down with his tail between his legs, and is still awaiting trial before the Israeli Supreme Court.
Look, there’s no question. The October 7 HAMAS atrocity was a crime against humanity. And both Netanyahu and his government, as well as the Israeli people had every right to retaliate, as well as to attempt to disable HAMAS from being able to enact another war crime. But Netanyahu didn’t stop there. He tried to use the tragedy for his own political advantage.
Remember this. It was Trump who ordered a mock up of the possible consequences of a possible war with Iran. This was while Trump was still President, and that prospectus was what he waved in the faces of non secure civilians after he left offices with a treasure trove of classified documents. Trump was clearly considering cobbling up a conflict with Iran in order to make Americans less willing to vote out a wartime President.
It didn’t work out so good for Netanyahu either. While heartbroken over the atrocity, most Israeli’s were revolted by the over-the-top brutality of the Netanyahu government against not only HAMAS, but innocent civilians too. As I wrote a while ago, there’s nothing like a people who have been the subject of a genocide to revile the thought of being the antagonist of another one.
Netanyahu is as bone stupid and power hungry as Trump. In his public pronouncements he blithely dismissed the Israeli hostages in Gaza as as necessary sacrifice for bringing an end to HAMAS once and for all. This is not what the grieving families of the hostages wanted to hear. Worse yet, what should have been a stunning victory for Netanyahu and the IDF, the lightening raid that freed four Israeli hostages turned to wormwood then it turned out it came at the price of 275 innocent Palestinian lives.
The protests for Netanyahu to resign are rapidly approaching the Pink Pussy Hat protests when he tried to hijack the Israeli judiciary. And the simple fact that President Biden held up a transfer of arms to Israel, the call of the highest ranking Jewish member of the US congress, Chuck Schumer from the well of the senate for Netanyahu to step down and hold new elections, as well as the sudden resignation of opposition leader Benny Ganz from the Israeli War Cabinet has only isolated Netanyahu further, and worried Israelis as to the wisdom of his course of actions.
There’s your second Trump term right there. Just look at the similarities;
- Trump has already tried to pack the U.S. judiciary with 200+ district court and appellate court judges, as well as three Supreme Court justices, to the point where he refers to them as his Supreme Court justices. The fact that Trump went 1-63 in post 2020 electoral court challenges, including multiple Trump appointees just shows how little he understands the judicial system
- Trump actively promoted shooting peaceful protesters during the George Floyd protests, argued to put U.S. troops in the streets under The Insurrection Act to quell peaceful protesters, and had law enforcement use tear gas against peaceful protesters so he vould clear a park to walk to a photo op in front of a church. Netanyahu turned police and security forces loose on peaceful protesters with water cannons and tear gas on peaceful protesters
- Netanyahu cynically used a national tragedy for personal political gain by using the tragedy to portray himself as a wartime President, and then immediately went so far as to earn an arrest warrant from the International Crimes Tribunal in the Hague. Trump seriously considered starting a conflict with Iran to portray himself as a wartime President in the 2020 elections
It’s all right there. You don’t have to wonder what a second Trump term would be like, Bibi Netanyahu has laid the whole playbook right in front of your nose. Trump will turn the U.S. judiciary into a puppet court. He will neuter federal law enforcement. He will change the rules to allow him to quickly dispose of anyone he considers a part of the deep state. He will call out the National Guard as well as the army under the Insurrection Act to quell peaceful protest. And he will use his stuffed judiciary and Supreme Court to roll back every civil liberty and right we have enjoyed for 248 years.
If you want to know what a possible second Trump term would look like, now you know. because Bibi Netanyahu showed you. Left to his own devices, Trump, while he can’t withdraw from the NATO treaty, can simply move to defund our annual contribution to NATO, hamstringing it. He can stop our support to Ukraine, giving Putin an open invitation to finish the job, and putting Poland and the Baltic Sea jerry rigged publics at risk. If he runs into political trouble here at home, he will find a country like Iran to pick a fight with to make himself a wartime Commander in Chief. He will use a tame lap dog DOJ and tame GOP judges to jail opponents pending jerry rigged trials. And don’t even think about protesting, or he’ll squash you like a bug. Welcome to Trumptopia.
I thank you for the privilege of your time.

So true Murf…time to scare the shit out of anyone interested in walking the streets of America after Trump starts his own extermination programs. It took Hitler three years to end all rights in Germany. We know Trump doesn’t have that kind of patience. Keep fanning the flames of freedom!
I don’t chat involved in debates over Israel/Palestine. There has been so much wrong done on both sides that there is no reasoning. This current horror story was, started with Hamas which is
correctly labeled a terrorist organization ,murdering women and children. And then Bibi decided to commit genocide by murdering women, children and the elderly.
I am stuck in the middle with the handful of sane folks on both sides who want a peaceful.solution which can only happen if Palestinians recognize the simple fact that Israel has a right to exist and for Israel.to agree to a two state situation. Both Hamas and Bibi need to go.
FYI I believe bibi’s son is also under indictment.
