Mike “Moses” Johnson is an election denier and bald faced liar who cloaks himself in the aura of being a “good Christian.” He is neither good nor a Christian. But it’s a way he’s found of getting by in life, being holier than thou, and preaching to whomever will listen to him. As you well know, he’s not Speaker material and he ended up improbably placed at the front of the room simply because the GOP was bone tired after weeks of haggling after the post-McCarthy coup. Johnson was on a Louisiana radio station the other day and here are his impressions (and lies) on a number of subjects.
Asked about the southern border, Johnson defended House Republicans, insisting, “we’ve been fighting since Joe Biden walked into the Oval Office and started issuing executive orders to open it wide.
That’s false, there are no executive orders “to open it wide.”
He also ignored how in the Senate, Democrats and Republicans worked for months and came together to craft a tough immigration and border security bill that was supported by President Biden, Senate Democratic Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, Senate Republican Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, and senators on both sides of the aisle – until Donald Trump killed it.
Johnson appeared uninterested in working with Democrats, whom he said he told Congresswoman Greene to fight.
He also insisted House Republicans have been “fighting tooth and nail” against Democrats.
He may have told Marge to fight the Democrats but surely it cannot have escaped his notice that she’s been too busy trying to get him canned. Here’s what he said about that when asked if he and Greene had “kissed and made up.”
“Oh good grief. You know me, I don’t I don’t carry grudges,” Johnson replied. “I don’t you know, you know, I don’t keep a record of wrongs. I went up to her right after her ridiculous tirade and said, ‘You know what, still gotta work together, Marjorie. … How about training some of that energy against the Democrats?’”
“Look. This is all gonna work out. I spend half my day as Speaker of the House and the other half as a mental health counselor,” getting everybody “through their issues.”
Daily Mail also reported that “in November, McCarthy had a piece of advice for his successor: ‘Bring in a psychiatrist for many of these members.’”
Frankly, that’s the first bone honest comment I’ve heard from McCarthy and obviously Johnson is finding out the truth of his words. More honestly like that would be refreshing to hear. Instead we get this.
“Here’s the problem. Everybody has to remember. We have the smallest majority and only one chamber of Congress and I have a one vote margin, right,” Johnson lamented. “So I can pass things in the House. But it doesn’t mean it’s gonna become law, because the progressive Democrats run the White House and the Senate and so we sit over our legislation, we pass resolutions. We impeached Secretary Mayorkas at Department of Homeland Security. First time a Cabinet Secretary has been impeached in the history of the United States.”
That too is false. In 1876 the U.S. House of Representatives impeached Secretary of War William Belknap.
Johnson also falsely claimed President Biden and the Democrats “wanted us to not fund the government and [to] shut it down. Because they know that [would be] blamed on Republicans, it would be very painful for the American people and then that would that would make sure that we lost the House majority, the narrow majority that we have, in November.”
The last thing Joe Biden or anybody sane wanted to do was shut down the government. This country lost its AAA credit rating in the world due to precisely this level of instability in government. It could have its credit rating lowered even further if something idiotic and unnecessary like a government shut down would take place. Maybe Johnson is unaware of this.
This is the central problem with Republican *leadership* these days is that there are no real leaders. All the elected Republicans are second string, if not fifth string players. The GOP doesn’t have an A-Team. If it did, it wouldn’t have Donald Trump at the top of its ticket for the third time in a row and be lying daily to whitewash his crimes and co-sign on his conspiracy theories.
This is where they’re signing their death warrant, in my opinion. The American people are not that stupid. Yes, they voted for Trump in 2016. Part of that was Obama backlash, part of that was Hillary being excoriated for the past twenty years by right-wing media, part of it was the natural political pendulum swinging back to the Republicans after eight years of a Democrat.
But the biggest part of Trump winning was that lifelong Republicans voted for him because he was the Republican nominee. It was assumed on a fundamental level that Trump was on the ticket because he had been thoroughly vetted and was qualified to run the country. Wrong. That is the worst assumption ever made by the American people. You know the cliche, “assume makes an ass out of you and me.”
That said, I agree with Republicans or members of any party, that it’s normal to assume that the candidate atop the ticket has gotten there because the person is qualified to be there — not because the GOP just ran out of steam and so the mouthy TV personality ended up taking over the party by default.
This Trump phenomenon is the most amazing thing to happen in American politics in our history. MAGA is a populist movement of know nothings and rageaholics because Trump is nothing more than that. He created a persona on the TV, but he’s no more that persona that John Wayne was the heroes he portrayed. I give credit to John Wayne for admitting that openly. Or he might have been the first unqualified media personality to be on the GOP ticket.
A lot of people have woken up since 2016 and that’s why Trump lost in 2020. And he will lose by an even bigger margin in 2024. The hush money trial is seeing to that. And the GOP may lose substantially down ballot. Yes, the Senate map is problematic this cycle but I honestly think that Trump’s destruction of anything normal about the Republican party may keep the Senate in Democratic hands. And I’m sure that the House will return to Democratic hands again as well.

I ran psychiatric assessments at Duke for seven years and at the largest facility in wake county for years…this delusional fascist is no expert on mental health. He should be in a facility for delusional ideation, not shooting his mouth off as if he is a rational, fact based human being. HE IS MENTALLY ILL. FACT.
Just curious as to how many of those “psychiatric assessments” you ran without the person being assessed present?
Please provide us all with your credentials as a psychiatrist that would give any of us a reason to believe your current assessment (something that virtually NO legitimate psychiatrist is willing to do for ETHICAL reasons). And, it’s hilarious to read some of your screeds/diatribes when you’re now coming off as having this deep “experience” with psychiatric assessments. Of course, I suppose the best person to know that someone else “should be in a facility for delusional ideation” or that someone is “MENTALLY ILL. FACT.” would be someone who is themselves suffering “delusional ideation” and is “MENTALLY ILL. FACT.”
I’ve done hundreds of assessments and supervised others, so I think I can recognize a delusion when i see one Saint Joseph. Although I’m sure he would stick with his delusional thinking in a face to face with me or anyone else, when you can see repeated interviews, audio, etc. where the person is confronted with the fact their belief system doesn’t match reality, and they are unable to recognize or admit that, then I can make an informed opinion. Not once does he abandon any falsehood or imply he’s just making it up for personal gain. He is clearly a threat to others and his behavior is not due to change. Just one example: do YOU think what has been seen and recorded about the riot on January 6th, that it was just a tour? He said so, and, as speaker, that ideation makes him a threat to the welfare of the community. Your last statement is meant as an insult but that’s your way. I guess all the doctors who legally put people and keep people locked up for mental illness are mentally ill per your conclusion. You’d fit right in with this speaker. I wonder how T-Rex fared on Noah’s Ark and, once off the boat, how they got that terrible nickname? Keep trying…as I’m sure you will. Of course. How about he’s as crazy as a phucking loon? That’s not a clinical term. Now for the feedback about how I’ve insulted waterfowl…begin.
