Maybe this is a tipping point. Long have journalists, TV broadcasters, radio broadcasters, Twitter and Facebook users, bloggers, anybody who has an opinion on politics and who shares it, been crying into the void that the mainstream media just doesn’t seem to get what has happened in this country in the Era of Trump and that this racehorse, bothsiderism madness simply won’t cut it.
We are not in a situation where there are two honorable candidates who have different ideas or policies. We are in a situation where we have a dishonorable sociopath at the top of one of the two major political parties, for the third election in a row and if he gets back in power, game over for this country. Evidently, this is a truth that the rest of us get but the so-called kings and queens of broadcasting, the mass media executives, either don’t get or they flat out want to deal with it, much as a parent sees that s/he has a problematic, afflicted child and is hoping that the kid grows out of it. No matter how much the media seeks to normalize Donald Trump and the 2024 election, it is not normal. Incredibly, Chuck Todd is making sense. Has anybody checked the temperature in Hell lately?
NBC and MTP are a joke. Chuck Todd and Kristen Welker are no more "journalists" than is Ronna McDaniel. The only true MSM journalists I see left are George Stephanopoulos and Jonathan Karl who actually don't let their guests get away with deflection.

I agree with the comment above. Chuck Todd and Kristen Welker are talking heads, hired for their telegenic qualities, their “personalities” and frankly, that’s part of how we got into this mess. Broadcast journalism used to have figures like Dan Rather, who is a handsome man, but far more importantly, he’s a real journalist. He came up from print media and radio and he knows what he’s doing. Not so for most of the telegenic prima donnas, the “twinkies” who end up reading the news or doing softball interviews on our TV screens.
One of the reasons the polls keep surprising us so much is because the networks simply are not getting the story. Here’s an impassioned piece I wrote during the 2022 election and while the cast of characters has changed a bit the basic problem hasn’t. It’s now 2024 and still I pray for the epiphany and the big change. Maybe the MSM can’t change. Maybe pandering for access is so baked into the cake that it will never change.

This is the state of the GOP as it is eaten by MAGA, much as the eclipse seems to eat the moon. The difference there is that the eclipse only appears to eat the moon. It’s a visual effect. Not so with MAGA and the GOP. MAGA has consumed the GOP and will wring every last drop of blood out of it before it’s through.
I think after this morning’s debacle that NBC should cut its losses and show Ronna McDaniel the door. That would be a big step towards accountability and addressing the reality of the situation we’re in in this election and exactly who is who and what is what.

The Republican party is only digging itself deeper & deeper into the muck & mire, by supporting a career criminal for ‘THEIR president. I for the life of my understand who so many people support Donald Trump even though he loathes them, who would ignore them another time around just like he did the first. How in the name of the heavens can we make these poor people understand that voting for Trump is a vote against themselves, against our constitutional freedoms, against free & fair elections, against the same rights & freedoms & equality for all Americans? We are entering a national emergency & ONLY WE VOTERS can loosen Trump’s & his cult’s chokehold on our gov’t & country.
Most of them don’t care. They only care that their guy gets in and puts forth the changes they think they want–put p.o.c., women, LGBTQ+, dems, liberals, etc in their place (preferably prison I would guess). They think this will make white, xtian, cons–them–the ones in power. They are wrong of course-dick-tators and their closest buddies will be in power, those with money too.
These are not bright people and they either do not trouble themselves by thinking about what the future might bring or they do not have the mental capacity to do so.
I think you tied with John Norman of the incredibly bad Gor series for the longest run-on sentences in literature (James Joyce and Faulkner are tied for first place). Try breaking it up into severa sentences next time.
I completely agree with your sentences, though. By any measurement,Trump is the least compentent, most corrupt president in the history of this nation. I don’t think he wants to be just a dictator, hoeever. He wants to be a king, sole ruler,,with Congress reduced to a handful.sycophantic “adviserz” in his Privy Council, whom he can fire at will. He wants to.be the kind of monarch Prince/King John Lack land was. The barons considered imprisoning the wife and children of a lord he didn’t like and starving them to.death wss the final.straw that got the barons united to create the Magna Carta. We may need enough Republicans fed up.with him to.join Dems in both houses of Congress to.impeach him.a third time,this time removing him from office.
The TV news media is a victim of two things, the demise of the fairness doctrine and conjoined with that, the rise of ‘accountism’ and ‘managerism’.
Previously ‘news’ didn’t have to make money for the networks, it was a loss-leading cost they bore because it’s what you do, part of having a broadcast license, part of being part of the fourth estate, part of their responsibility to society of informing people of facts. Those ideas are long gone, and now news isn’t news anymore, it’s entertainment, it has to get ratings all the time so that it can pay for itself. So we have the rise of ‘celebrities’ people who are famous for being famous – with no apparent evidence of achievement in anything else. And newsy news, ‘news’, to elicit emotional response is strongly favored. Informing people and explaining things are way down the list of priorities. Hence the stress on the importance of looks over ability, appearance over substance.
We all know this is true, Fox news even went to court arguing they aren’t news, they’re entertainment, and won their case. To change this requires reintroduction of the fairness doctrine and a legal requirement of some broadcast time to each day of actual news.
