There is a definite pattern taking shape here for one and all to see. Yes, Donald Trump is winning primaries. BUT a great many people are voting for other people and here’s the kicker, even people who are no longer in the race are still getting votes. A lot of votes, particularly Nikki Haley. Now people who show up for primaries are hard core party members. These are the people who vote for all the smaller races or the issues that might get to the ballot. These are the grassroots members of the parties. So today in Florida, Trump won yet another primary, but he didn’t win it by acclimation, which is pretty much the norm when all other candidates have ceded the field to the front runner and endorsed him. Same result in Ohio, although the votes are still being counted at the time of this writing.
Trump has not gotten Nikki Haley’s endorsement and there are two schools of thought on whether he ever will. Trump did get Ron DeSantis’s endorsement. And all the voters who showed up at this primary today know full well that Haley and DeSantis have dropped out of the race. So why did so many of them vote for them anyway, if not to make the statement, “I don’t want to vote for Trump?”
These are some big percentages Rick Wilson just bandied about, 19%, 23%. What has crossed my mind and this is just a maybe, could it happen that at the GOP convention in July that Haley could oppose Trump and it could turn into 2016 redux with Ted Cruz getting booed — except maybe this time Nikki Haley gets cheered? The difference between Cruz getting booed and how Haley might be received is we’ve all seen Trump in action. The hard core Haley voters aren’t so much hard core for her, in my opinion, as they are simply voting for somebody who is a sane and recognizable Republican because they’re fed up with Trump.
What is plain as day here is that most Republicans are voting for the MAGA candidate, but the hardcore grassroots people are still very fragmented. And as Rick Wilson just said, if half of these people who voted for somebody else decide to go ahead and stay the course and not vote for Trump, it could be a disaster.
You also heard Rickstradamus make another comment that is ear catching: he mentioned “the pro-democracy people.” That’s what it is, folks. That’s the essence of this November contest. It is not Democrat v. Republican, it is pro-democracy v. anti-democracy aka fascism.
Never thought I would see the day but here we are. And we got here in 2016 when the GOP put this monster on the top of their ticket. I saw it then, I said it then, Trump will be with us until the GOP quits him, and they’ll only quit him when he has tanked the party beyond all hope of salvation. I think the GOP would do well to change its acronym to FUBAR. For that is their true state of being.

It is likely cancun cruz got booed because he is thoroughly loathed by a great many people including those from his own party. I still cannot figure out how the greasy p.o.s. gets reelected.
Because some people just vote the party line, even they hate a candidate. In their view, any R, however repulsive and corrupt,is better than the best D.
“That’s what it is, folks. That’s the essence of this November contest. It is not Democrat v. Republican, it is pro-democracy v. anti-democracy aka fascism.”
Exactly.
Democracy or fascism.
Your choice.
Acclimation: The process or result of becoming accustomed to a new climate or to new conditions.
Acclamation: a loud shout or other demonstration of welcome, goodwill, or approval. act of acclaiming. In American usage, the phrase “by acclamation” means “by overwhelming approval and without ballot,” that is, by shouting out approval. In Canadian usage it can also mean “by virtue of being the sole candidate.” Obviously neither of these exactly describes how Trump won the FL primary. He actually received 81.2% of the vote. But perhaps you meant he SHOULD have won “by virtue of being the sole candidate,” because all the other candidates had dropped out by then, so the 18.8% vote for somebody else, even if it was Donald Duck, was clearly a protest vote.
Sorry, I had to go through all this to make sure I got your meaning.
