#TrumpMentalHealth is trending on Twitter and what you’re about to see is fueling that tag. My God. If you were looking to do a documentary on dementia, you could not find better subject material than this. Donald Trump is back in New Hampshire and he’s whispering, slurring, and rambling incoherently.

The topics he picks are increasingly bizarre and his commentary on them is simply not grounded for more than a minute. He’s up there entertaining and that’s the essence of MAGA. They’re in it for the show. I wonder if it occurs to even one of them, that maybe this man is sick? Nobody hates Donald Trump more than I do, but I hate to see anybody losing it in public like this.

There it is folks, memorize it now. You may need to ace a cognitive exam and you need to be prepared. Say it with me now, Ding Ding Boom Whoosh Boom. And yes, that thing with a long neck is a giraffe and you need to know that as well. These are some tough exams coming up, time to buckle down.

Yet we keep hearing that Trump is rising like a rocket in the polls. All I can say is that I was told, in no uncertain terms, that Hillary had a 96% chance of winning and how did I spend my time? I paid attention to the down ballot races. I was very interested in Jason Kandor, who was running for the Senate from Missouri. I used to follow that race a lot because I knew Hillary had the presidency sewn up. Wrong.

Put it this way: If America is ready to throw democracy overboard because Joe Biden is four years older than this demented, spray-painted POS, then we are lost. And I don’t believe we are lost.

Here’s an interlude where he gets heckled. Very interesting.

I’ll tell you what is significant here. It’s been predicted that the GOP convention is going to go completely out of control this July. If this is happening now, in January, at a Trump rally, then I think the 1968 Chicago riots at the Democratic convention are going to look like child’s play. And bear closely in mind, Vietnam was the issue tearing this country apart in 1968, plus we lost both Dr. King and Bobby Kennedy that year. America was a raw nerve, and frankly, Trump has this country in even more of a tizzy than those three events. I remember all of them, I was there. A kid, yes, but I was there, and I think Donald Trump is the new Vietnam. Let that one sink in. If anybody can point out to me a time in our history, since Vietnam, that we have been that divided up until now, I want to know about it.

This next one is odd. I assume they’re booing Haley and calling her a “loser.”

Here’s Fox News bailing out. Editorial decision because Trump was looking so bad? The real minds on the right don’t think Trump can win. Rupert Murdoch doesn’t, if we are to take his immediate embrace of Ron DeSantis to heart. Matt Drudge doesn’t think he can win. The Koch Brothers network of people don’t think he can win. I’ll bet if you get down to it, Sean Hannity doesn’t think he can win.

Let’s see what happens tomorrow. As Scarlett O’Hara said, “Tomorrow is another day.”

    • I think Weekend At Betty Ford’s might be more appropriate. He seems wasted. It’s either a combination of exhaustion and chemicals or dementia — and exhaustion and chemicals.

    • Like all the other wealthy americans (and let’s not forget american craporations). I’d say “let’s fill the house and senate with a super majority of democrats and put one in the w.h. but honestly I’m not sure they would make sure the oligarchs and craporations not only paid their fair share but also served the same kind of time everyone else serves when they break the law. Dems get money from both just like the republicans. Often less (certainly from the oligarchs) but they still rake quite a bit in. Third party candidates maybe? Not sure this country could handle it tho’.

I guess I don’t have all the answers but it’s still worth a try. I do know one thing: unless we get rid of the criminal insurrectionists-trump and the republicans in the house, senate and state legislators who helped him-we will never even come close to equal treatment for all.

  2. I live in Australia, born here. Problem is Trumps possible re-election puts our alliance at risk. we have blindly followed the US into every conflict since WW2 in support of the belief in democracy. He will turn his back in an instant if we were under threat, just like he is proposing with NATO. Trump glorifies autocratic and authoritarian leadership; Putin, Urban (although he’s confused about which country he leads) Kim Jong Ill. Australia is watching and we are nervous as is Europe and other democracies around the world. The USA is supposed to be the greatest nation on Earth, the standbearer of democracy. There are many of us that are observing this being ripped from the very fabric of your society and we watch with eyes wide open and pray that we are wrong. Trump has 91 criminal charges that are being tried in a court of law. In Australia we have a saying, ” throw enough shit and some will stick to the wall”. got to say I’ve been following US politics since Hillary went up against Trump. I read about his abuse of power, being above the law, pleas for immunity in crimes that are just so bloody overt, and yet half of America supports him. This will see the demise of America with authoritarian dictators rubbing their hands in glee. Europe will be at war with Russia, China will invade Taiwan. Let the blood of the world be spilt because of his perceived weakness. The world will be at war and Trump will be focused on lining his pockets. it is a tragedy to watch from a far US. I pray for you all. Campaigning on hate serves no purpose other to incite division. So scary to watch a nation divided by lies and an agenda to gain control of a free nation and people are blind.

    • Letting him squat in the w.h. again puts more than just Australia/NATO at risk.; on that you could not be more correct I can only imagine what our country looks like to objective, outside observers and it makes me very ashamed. We were the gold standard with regard to elections. It was the U.S. election observers came from when other countries needed help with their elections. These traitorous republicans likely destroyed that with their overweening thirst for power, money, etc.

Most days I wake up just wanting to go live in another country-become a citizen elsewhere if possible but just getting out of the u.s. seems like a good idea.

      • But. But. But Sarah Palin can see Russia from her house, and she and her trashy family have a belly a lot of guns and can certainly drive off a Russian invasion force,,but not until.after Bristol.sleeps with a cute one and gets knocked up.again.

  3. This loathsome loser can barely scrape through a monologue in front of his cult members. The strategy should be to challenge him to open debate. If he refuses he’s a coward; if he accepts he’s roadkill.

  4. Mr. Serville is absolutely right. If Trump somehow cons his way back into the WH, the US is finished as leader of the free world. The real democracies will begin to pull back from trading with an unreliable partner and they, most certainly, will cease to share military intelligence with a swiss cheese President. The world’s dictatorships however, the Putins, the Orbans and China etc., will love having their useful idiot in charge of America. Sad, but true.

  5. Ursula’s mention of that wonderful year 1968 brings back vivid memories: I was finishing the last 10 1/2 months of my Army active duty at Fort Stewart, GA after a clerk’s error assigned a dozen of us who finished advanced training in telecom electronics repair together and served overseas duty tours in various Eighth Army units reunited in a unit that didn’t need our shared MOS. All of us were Specialists E-5, the pay grade of a buck Sergeant, and our assigned unit’s mission was support of chopper pilot flight training operations, vital enough that we weren’t going anywhere.

When not detailed on training operations our company, along with other units on post, received riot control training, in case troops were called in to support law enforcement protest demonstration control, as tensions over racial injustice as well as Viet Nam threatened to boil over.

One of the rotating duty assignments for E-5 personnel was Charge of Quarters (CQ), which in this unit entailed administration in the orderly room from 4:30 PM to 8:00AM the next morning, as relief for staff officers. My first few scheduled nights as CQ were uneventful, but I drew the duty the the night Dr. King was assassinated, and my next turn as CQ was when it happened to RFK. Thankfully, no more shooting occurred on my subsequent night’s as CQ.

As a 23-year-old, 1968 was the first presidential election I could vote in, and I watched TV coverage of the convention in Chicago with our next-door neighbor, a career soldier (There was housing availabe for families of enlisted men E-5 and higher). UNBELIEVABLE – Dan Rather decked on the convention hall floor, while on camera, by a Chicago cop!

Aaaahhh, yes, that wonderful year, 1968 (written sarcastically)…..

  6. If he gets elected, the climate crisis will reach a tipping point after he greenlights the fossil fuel industry to do whatever they like. The earth won’t be able to self correct over time, and methane/co2 will speed us toward becoming Venus. There is no life on Venus. Losing our democracy will pale in comparison to the hell that awaits a species too goddamn arrogant and ignorant to save it’s own collective ass. As Led Zeppelin sings in: When The Levee Breaks…”crying won’t help you…praying won’t do you no good!”
