History is being made. The State of Georgia v. Donald J. Trump will be arresting said defendant Trump sometime this afternoon. It will be a momentous occasion. Never in our history has a former president or a candidate for the presidency, let alone somebody who is both, had a mugshot taken.
As to being arrested, that’s old hat. That was a big deal several months ago in Manhattan when Trump had to hold a door open for himself — can you imagine? — as he was arraigned in the Stormy Daniels matter. But now it’s arrest number four, ho hum. But the mugshot is a new development. Expect it to be viral worldwide within minutes.
When Trump is in the history books of the future, two things you can depend upon: 1) There will be a photo of him during the Insurrection of January 6, 2021, as it will probably be known; 2) His mug shot will be right next to that picture.
Hell of a legacy, eh what? But this is the man. This is his moral fiber, inciting a riot and then being indicted for election interference, both arising out of the same incident, his complete inability to simply admit that he lost.
The Fulton County jail has been criticized as overcrowded and understaffed but that won’t affect Trump. He’ll just sail out of the limo, post twenty grand (he’s required to post 10% of his bond, which is $200,000) get his photo taken, get fingerprinted and then get back in the limo and fly away on his private jet back to Bedminster.
And do you want to know what’s on his mind right now? Sober reflection? Remorse, perhaps, for his wicked ways? Hell, no. He’s crowing about his appearance on Tucker Carlson’s X podcast being the “Biggest Video on Social Media EVER!.”
There you see it, Trump once again violates the terms of his bail by attacking an officer of the court. Simply incredible. I seriously hope that something is done, like a gag order, or better yet, throwing him in jail for at least one night, because maybe that would drum a little bit of the gravity of the situation through his thick skull.
This is Eau de Trump, his very essence, disrespect in all forms. And this is what the MAGAs love about him. He’s living their dream, being a complete asshole and not only getting away with it, but having all kinds of money and a beautiful wife and mansions, all of that.
