Behold. The clouds are parting and a ray of sanity has fallen upon our land. A Reuters Ipsos Poll released this afternoon, and compiled before Donald Trump’s arraignment in Washington, D.C. earlier today, showed that 45% of those Republicans polled would not vote for Trump if he was convicted of a crime, whereas 35% said that they would. And 28% said that they would vote for him even if he was incarcerated. So, once again, we have this magic third of the GOP, which is hard core MAGA and if Trump burned D.C. to the ground, they would dance in the ashes, evidently.
Asked if they would vote for Trump if he were “currently serving time in prison,” 52% of Republicans said they would not, compared to 28% who said they would.
Trump has proclaimed his innocence in all the cases against him and accuses prosecutors of conducting a “witch hunt” that aims to derail his campaign. […]
The new poll showed that Republicans broadly sympathize with Trump’s accusations of political persecution. Seventy-five percent of Republican respondents agreed with a statement that the charges against Trump were “politically motivated.” Twenty percent disagreed and the rest said they didn’t know.
I take this as an amazing sign. 20% of Republicans polled said they believed the charges against Trump were legitimate? Glory be. But don’t jump up and down too soon.
About two-thirds of Republicans – 66% – described as “not believable” the accusation in Trump’s latest indictment that he solicited election fraud. Twenty-nine percent said it was believable and the rest were not sure.
Republican respondents also described themselves as more likely to withhold their votes on Election Day from an unnamed convicted felon than one named Donald Trump. When asked how a felony conviction would affect their voting in an abstract sense, 71% of Republicans said they would not vote for the convict, compared to 52% if it were Trump.
Isn’t this comical? In the abstract, 71% agree that voting for a convicted felon is a bad idea but if it’s the Marmalade Messiah, oh, why didn’t you say so, then the number drops down to 52%. And you and I are the ones with Trump Derangement Syndrome, we are told.
And this won’t surprise you one jot: Ron DeSantis has slipped six points since the July poll showing him at 19%, now he’s down to 13%. At the end of August, he’ll be in single digits, mark my words. Or, he may be already, because this poll has a statistical margin of error of four points. So DeSanta baby could be at 9% right now.
I wonder what he’ll do, talk even meaner and nastier? He’s going to slit throats on day one in the White House, or so he said in New Hampshire, where do you go from there? Decapitating people in the Rose Garden and using their skulls for ash trays?

Trump voters are irrational thinkers anyway. Uneducated hicks, rednecks & hillbillies who seem to function on about 20-30 brain capacity. All you need to do to realize that is listen to them being interviewed on TV “news”. Their disconnect from reality is staggering. They’re the least informed & the most vocal & the most brainwashed. They are all perfect candidates for the cult persuasion they’ve fallen for.
The people that get interviewed at the rallies are unbelievable. You couldn’t make up characters like this. Only life itself can produce personalities that bizarre.
Yes, it appears that there is a whole alternative central casting devoted to it.
