If you’re familiar with Pink Eye you know it easily spreads. You’re probably also familiar with a term callled “Stink Eye”, as in people giving each other dirty looks. Including and especially co-workers who don’t trust each other.
According to this article, panic is growing at Mar A Lago (and probably Bedminster too) as word is spreading that at least one, and more likely two staffers who folks thought were hanging in with Trump, one of whom reportedly even had a Trump paid lawyer offered to him (widely believed to be the IT guy who was asked to delete video from the servers – and didn’t) turns out to have been cooperating with Jack Smith’s prosecutors. To recap, Trump aid Walt Nauta changed travel plans after Trump called now co-defendant Carlos De Oliveira to say he (Trump) would get him a lawyer and hang tough) to go down to Mar A Lago and meet with De Oliveira. (Screw it – I’m going back to Carlos D. Deal with it folks) The whole thing was Trump’s (typically) ham-handed attempt to do some mobster style “don’t go being a rat” crap. Make sure Carlos D was solidly in the fold and ensure he’d get with “Employee #s 4 and 5” to make sure they were solidly on Team Trump.
All seemed well after all that. Seemed. Well, at least Carlos D is sticking with Trump, at least for now. However, this new set of indictments, both of Carlos and the superseding counts against Trump show that those two unnamed employees weren’t sticking with the boss after all! They’d flipped and were cooperating with prosecutors.
Uh Oh.
i’m thinking that instead of what’s coming in Georgia, this might be why old Donald went round the bend the other day. He now knows at least two of the “little people” who actually know an awful lot, and worse stuff that will be really bad for him have run into the safety of prosecutor’s arms. How many more of them are out there, both in FL and NJ? People who are in and out and just there, like part of the furniture who saw stuff and can provide credible testimony and details? People he doesn’t yet know about! And even more terrifying (for Trump) how many have “receipts” as in not just dates of what they saw/heard that they wrote down, but bits of video, or pictures or audio recordings even if just snippets?
It gets better, hence the title of this article. As the linked article suggests, there are probably others who now know about Employees 4 & 5. They also know there are only so many seats on the train they can grab that will take them to safety – as in AWAY from their very own conviction and stay in a federal prison. A LOT of wheels are turning in a LOT of minds all of a sudden. So you have a situation with people who are still blindly loyal to Trump and willing to go down with him, believing maybe that he’ll both pay for lawyers for them (then again, maybe not given how much he’s already spending and cash flow problems on that score) and/or pardon them when he becomes President again. I don’t have to tell you there are millions of MAGA cult goobers who truly believe Trump will again be President.
Then you have those who have family and friends that have at least partially gotten through to them that if they know anything and haven’t spoken up they will wind up in deep sh*t. Or have figured it out on their own that they face legal peril. People who are thinking it’s time to start covering their own butts. This all makes for a toxic for them but delightful for us brew of mistrust amongst co-workers. Who is loyal to Trump and “who’s a rat?” Hence the dirty looks, or what I referred to as Stink Eye.
Just think about what’s going through everyone’s heads. Who’s a rat? Who’s still loyal? Who knows what I’ve seen/heard/done and might be talking to prosecutors, or has already sold me out? Who can I give up to cover my own butt? And so on and so on. Oh what a tangled web Trump and Trump World have weaved! It all boils down to everyone looking at everyone they work with and wondering stuff like I just mentioned, and with those still loyal to Trump shooting “looks” at people the suspect aren’t on the team.

My guess is that it’s spreading like a breakout of pink eye back in my area at Camp Pendleton all those decades ago. Bad enough they had us haul our mattresses out onto the parade deck to get a dose of sunlight all day long. (a work detail flipped them during the day or so we were told.)
It’s possible we will be off to the races if it hasn’t already started. People running to Jack Smith’s team to cut a deal while they still can. I think the carnage from co-workers stampeding to throw others under the bus could turn out to be epic.
Better yet, I’ll bet Trump is thinking the same thing!

When you’re an idiot you think everyone else is an idiot. Trump’s an idiot therefore he thinks no one working for him knows more than he does and moreover they would never do anything he did not want them to do. You know, like cover their a$$es. Sometimes idiots see what their idiocy has brought about and decide they’d better correct their stupidity by learning something. Trump is not one of those idiots and at almost 80 years old, has learned nothing more than he knew when he was maybe 20 (maybe even younger). There’s a reason for this: most people actually suffer consequences for their stupidity and trump never has. Hopefully he’s about to suffer some pretty significant consequences and he will have one more chance to get some of that hard knock education most of us receive when we were quite a bit younger.

I know (and knew when I wrote it) that you’re correct. I just thought the way I put it, although poor grammer had more zing to it. Think about the original expression, then say both your version and the one I decided to go with out loud and tell me mine doesn’t have more punch. Especially since although they don’t speak up all that often conservatives and even full-on MAGA goobers come here. I think my version will hit them harder!
