This would be a terrific clip to put in a time capsule of this era, certainly for historians researching the year 2024 and the presidential election that took place. People in the future will want to know all about the platform of the man found liable for rape (assuming that’s how the jury finds him) and the man found guilty of election interference and inciting a riot at the nation’s capitol in order to stay in power — while simultaneously, he and his children were found guilty of fraud. Again, assuming that’s how these cases are decided.
The people of the future will want to know what in God’s name could he say to people, with a track record like that, that would make them want to have anything to do with him, let alone send him back to the White House.
And that would be the time to take out this clip and say, here. Here are all the really swell ideas that Trump had for a second term, all the way from arresting the homeless to executing drug dealers.

The man is screaming bankers bat$hit insane, but he’s the frontrunner for the GOP nomination. At least today, May 5, 2023 he is. Maybe Ron DeSantis will topple him. Maybe somebody like John Kasich or Brian Kemp or Larry Hogan can come in and wage a successful primary. Maybe Asa Hutchinson can prevail. The contrast between those two men is very basic, as basic as you can get in fact: Hutchinson is sane, Trump is crazy.
If the world was sane, that very division would decide the matter in Hutchinson’s favor but no, we live in a world where MAGA has effectively arisen as a third political party in this country and that’s who Trump really is representing is MAGA — although make no mistake, MAGAs are only saying out loud what so much of the GOP actually thinks.
I also believe that history will record Mike Pence and Nikki Haley as blips on a radar screen in 2024, assuming Pence runs at all and he said we would know that next month.
Who knows what we’ll be looking at this time next year? But for now, that’s the GOP platform, chapter and verse, as recited to you by their standard bearer.

Don’t be so sure what history will be recorded since it’s recorded by the WINNERS. This fascist takeover is far far from over. I’ve yet to be convinced democracy will prevail, especially since 74 million voted for this evil POS after watching him for four years. With all the corruption & convictions out of his administration, he’s still free, and, evidently has poisoned the entire culture where history, truth, decency, social justice, and democracy are on the chopping block. The American public has been accepting criminal presidents, senators, house members, and judges for so goddamn long making laws that benefit them, I’m not sure this country has ANY moral compass. We have become a narcissistic, materialistic, faux religious, and racist country. Fact. Capitalism. Tried and failed. Communism and Marxism chokes cultures with bureaucracy. Capitalism chokes cultures with greed for money and power. Balance is lost and peace is an impossibility when injustice IS the law of the land. Maybe a miracle will save us. Hard to trust miracles when gun deaths are the top killer of children. Twenty years ago, military weapons, like the AR15, were 2% of the gun sales. Now they’re 25%. Twenty years ago there were 200 million guns on the streets, now it’s doubled. We’re being exposed to unthinkable mass shootings daily. Winning are we? Doesn’t look that way to me. There won’t be any recorded history when all the facts are destroyed, and we get ‘alternative facts’ from our masters. Count on it. We better win this war.

I’m a natural pessimist, I know, but one thought keeps haunting me. What if the Carroll jury finds in favor of Trump? Yes, yes, there’s seemingly little or no chance of this really happening, but we’ve witnessed many improbable things in the last seven years. What would that verdict do to my idea of this nation and my neighbors? Would I have to petition for Canadian citizenship? I enjoyed New Zealand and Australia when my wife and I visited there: what are their immigration laws like? Someone out there, please reassure me that I’m only stuck in an awful nightmare…
