*Sigh* Why can’t imbeciles just be imbeciles, and leave the thinking to other people do the thinking. A few months ago Traitor Tot was deposed by the New York Attorney General, and took the 5th more than 400 times. Yesterday Trump once again appeared before the NY AG for deposition, for more than seven hours, and according to The Hill and MSNBC didn’t take the 5th once.
Now I’m confused. At the same time, all three of Trump’s Satan spawn also were deposed. Diaper Donnie redux and Princess Ivanka answered questions. Eric put his old man to shame by pleading the 5th more than 500 times. None of the others have been reinterviewed.
Here’s my confusion. I have always been under the impression that when a plaintiff holds a deposition, you get one shot at it, so you had better nail it the first time. Which is why depositions are the last thing to be done.
Which means that either Trump’s lawyers told him to go back in, or Trump overrode his lawyers, and demanded another deposition. Since I’m pretty sure that his lawyers threatened to quit en masse if he said anything but 5th Amendment, it wasn’t them. But why would His Lowness demand to go back into the hornets nest? Maybe because he belatedly realized that unlike a criminal trial, in a civil trial the plaintiff can tell the jury about all of his 5th amendment pleas, and the judge will tell them that they are free to infer quilt from that if they choose?
Whatever the reason, Emperor Numbus Nuttus did it, and he may as well just gotten it all over with, signed a full confession, and thrown himself on the mercy of the court. Because as we all know, once El Pendejo Presidente gets rolling, you can’t shut him up with a bag of concrete. He can’t even answer a question like What is your shoe size?, without responding with I wear a size 10, and my podiatrist has told me that I have the most perfectly formed size 10 that he has seen in 30 years in the business. He just can’t help himself.
And I’ll even give you a brand new example, reported today from a leak. Trump was asked about a financial statement he had filed, and asked if it was accurate. Trump responded that he had filed the statement, then just couldn’t resist, and went on to say, In fact, it turned out that the actual financial statement was even better than the one I filed. Sweet Jesus, give me strength. Since one of the things that NY AG James is suing Trump for is underestimating the value of his properties when negotiating taxes and insurance rates, the moron may just as well thrown his hands up and said, OK! OK! You got me! Can we talk about something else now?
Here’s why this is so critical. While FrankenTrump may be operating in a self contained bubble, New York Attorney General Letitia James is not! From the time she announced her probe, and then Manhattan DA Cyrus Vance Jr. announced his criminal probe, the two have been like pen pals with benefits. They have regularly exchanged information, both working the same side of the street, and reporting said that James sometimes sent investigators down to work with Vance in his office, and Vance sent investigators up to James to work with.
And now James has a brand new, shiny seven hour deposition video, and corresponding transcript of The Scruffy Guru running off his mouth. Gee. Do you think that Donnie Depends may have said some things that could be useful to Bragg? Or better yet, do you think that James may have slipped in a few probing questions on some of what Bragg is working on, just to see how Trump would respond? And I’m not even going to ask if you think that she’ll share anything relevant with the Manhattan DA?
If my feeble memory is correct, James is scheduled to go to trial against Trump in October. I believe that Bragg isn’t scheduled to whack Trump around like a pinata until January, so there’s plenty of time. But the earlier the better. Trump just had his arraignment, it will be months yet before the hearing to establish discovery. And the beauty is that Bragg can disclose everything James gives him in discovery.
Because what’s Trump’s legal team going to do? Trump said what he said, and being Trump, it was a mouthful. Now it’s once again up to Trump’s lawyers to clean up the mess. And having bee a foreman in a dental malpractice suit in Illinois, I know that deposition testimony is not secret. In fact it’s meant to be played at trial, to substitute for live testimony, which is about as exciting as watching the Pro-Am National Putt-Putt Golf Championships.
And to leave you with, here’s a little scoop I just heard today on The Beat with Ari Melber. Melber took a deep dive into the Manhattan DA case, and came up with something I never knew. Several years ago, Bragg was the lead attorney in the New York state civil suit where they pantsed Trump over his bogus charity. Bragg cuffed Trump around like a tetherball. Maybe another reason why Trump is going so far with his vitriol against Bragg on social media? Don’t touch that dial.

He answered questions instead of taking the 5th? Wow. Then again, this is Trump and his insane belief he’s got “a very fine brain.” He believes he knows more than anyone else about any subject. Maybe the racist TN legislature inspired him. They went on the attack to (in their effed up minds) put a couple of “uppity n!@@ers in their place” and being Trump he’s not about to let ANYONE outdo him! Of course, the whole thing blew up in the TN House’s face like Wile E. Coyote with some Acme explosive that didn’t work as planned. But Trump is racist and sexist and no doubt believes he can think and talk circles around a woman. A BLACK woman. I can only imagine what his lawyers are thinking tonight!
Read somewhere that another writer or lawyer (harder to remember with so much poop or ketchup on walls) advised his still paid attorneys to write up some good memos to keep from getting sued for malpractice by client. Wonder if these geniuses are also secretly helping their client with private notes “client has slipped and stripped some major mental gears…”
From what I heard (I think it was on MSNBC), the AG’s hearing was for a civil case whereas the previous deposition was for a criminal investigation. I don’t remember the exact explanation but it had to do with the same presumption of innocence is NOT implied in a civil case.
Thanks…I seemed to remember the same thing, but couldn’t remember him in a criminal deposition with9ut his kids, so I didn’t go out on that imb…But it fits…
I know that depositions are played at the trial for the crimes/torts deposed, but is that info available beforehand to other prosecutors? I mean, I guess it makes little difference but it does give ammo to the prosecutors so they have more time to figure out their shots. Still, all to the good in this case.
It looks like fat a$$ is finally going to pay for a life of crime.
I imagine that he will enjoy those “cage showers” for the rest of his life.
Yes, they will wheel a cage up to his cell, open the cell door so that he can get in the cage, and then walk him to the showers.
Fat, nude and walking in a cage to the showers for eternity…..
Meidas Touch aired a brilliant piece on this topic.
“BREAKING: Trump CORNERED by Manhattan DA’s BRILLIANT Chess Move”
Bragg played 3-dimensional chess while Trump is playing checkers.
Pleading the 5th in a civil case can be used as an implication of guilt adverse inferences), whereas doing it in a criminal case CANNOT be considered by the jury as hiding guilt. So now that they have deposed him, that deposition can be handed to Alvin Bragg and he’s boned.
If he had brought the indictment of criminal charges, it would have forced James to pause the civil investigation as the criminal case takes precedence.
So, I’m wondering. Do they actually have a trial or do they just read the transcript and notes from the civil case. Because I have a simple mind but I see the Trump world circulating the bowl in the court house that you don’t have to repeatedly flush. If the moron did one more like that first answer about the spread sheet. Donnie going to jail if they can wake the prosecution up. Did anyone explain the two part issue to the moron. But I’m sure someone did and with the genius business mind of Trump he decided he had a plan. Good grief, here.
