Two ways to look at what just happened to Mike Pence in Indiana, speaking before the National Rifle Association. One is, Mike gets booed a lot, including in Indiana. Remember when the kids at Notre Dame booed him and walked out, one graduation day?

Another way to look at it, is that if a Republican candidate for POTUS gets booed by the NRA — and we mean anywhere, but particularly in his home state — there’s no way that guy is going to win the nomination.

Hope springs eternal. Mike seems to think this is no biggy, but seriously, somebody should take him aside and tell him to forget this impossible dream of his, because he is no Don Quixote. He’s a deeply unpopular former governor of Indiana, who was a lousy congressman before that. Trump rescued him from the scrap heap to put a religious face on the 2016 campaign. Pence is history and the only one who doesn’t know it is him, evidently.

Here’s a walk down memory lane. Remember this?

In all seriousness, Mother should have a heart to heart talk with Mike. This campaign of his is going nowhere. You’ve written your memoirs, Mike, you’ve written your rabbit’s memoirs and maybe it’s time to take a page from GOP politicians of yore. Maybe it’s time to take up painting.

  1. Painting? What he needs to take up is RUNNING to Smith’s grand jury (and any other that wants to hear from him r.e. Trump) and testifying. THEN writing a new book. One that would cleanse his soul and demonstrate full contrition to the God in which he so fervently claims to believe and the Jesus he claims to worship by telling the unvarnished TRUTH about every misdeed, every sleazy thing including and especially anything criminal or even perhaps so, every insult he witnessed Trump privately visit upon Evangelicals and so much more. At least he’d be fabulously rich for the rest of his days, and his kids and grandkids and even great grandkids would live in luxury and never want for anything (well, material at least) because even liberal like ME would shell out for a copy!

What will it take for him to finally realize he will never, ever EVER get the GOP nomination, much less become President? I thought about adding a really filthy metaphor related to the guy who is told over and over again, and even sees everything but the woman he loves “in the act”, AND finally witnesses it and still refuses to believe she’s cheating on him.

  2. I wonder how many true-believing open-carrying gun folks were openly packing heat in the hall when LaPierre was speaking?

If memory serves, the NRA actually prohibits convention attendees from openly carrying any kind of “rifle” during the speaking events–even when the conventions are in “open-carry” states (and where the NRA has spent hundreds of millions in making sure those laws are enacted).

    • Interestingly, or perhaps more accurately hypocritically those big NRA gatherings are gun free zones. Not even handguns allowed in the hall, at least by the patrons who paid their money to get in. Funny how you never see demonstrations from gun goobers outside protesting they aren’t allowed to wear or carry their GUNS inside!
