Ouch. You know Susie is hiding the ketchup bottles and probably the syrup bottles as well for good measure. Donald will not be pleased when the latest poll hits his desk and smites him between the eyes. But it’s CNN and so it will achieve the label of “fake news” within seconds. CNN:
Public opinion on nearly every aspect of President Donald Trump’s first year back in the White House is negative, a new CNN poll conducted by SSRS finds, with a majority of Americans saying Trump is focused on the wrong priorities and doing too little to address cost of living.
A majority, 58%, calls the first year of Trump’s term a failure.
There’s hardly any good news in the poll for Trump or the Republican Party entering a critical midterm year, with the president’s handling of the economy looming as the defining issue in key House and Senate races.
Asked to choose the country’s top issue, Americans pick the economy by a nearly two-to-one margin over any other topic. The poll suggests Trump is struggling to prove that he’s addressing it. And it finds broad concerns over Trump’s use of presidential power and his efforts to put his stamp on American culture.
Views of economic conditions have remained stable — and largely negative — for the past two years, with about 3 in 10 rating the economy positively. What’s changed in the latest poll is the increased pessimism about the future: Just over 4 in 10 expect the economy to be good a year from now, down from 56% just before Trump was sworn in last January.
A 55% majority say that Trump’s policies have worsened economic conditions in the country, with just 32% saying they’ve made an improvement. Most, 64%, say he hasn’t gone far enough in trying to reduce the price of everyday goods. Even within the GOP, about half say that he should be doing more, including 42% among Republicans and Republican-leaners who describe themselves as members of the “Make America Great Again” movement.
This is happening to a guy who cannot sit straight up, whether in a cabinet meeting or on the air with Sean Hannity; a guy who cannot stay awake in the Oval Office; and a guy who goes off script and rambles and now even leaves his chair to go stare at a *ballroom* that doesn’t exist yet. Reading political tea leaves is a dark art, yes, but in this case the prognosis is not good.

The world is over-heating in a possible civilization ending crash, people are being murdered in the street by masked government thugs, the education, healthcare, consumer and environmental protections are being dismantled and the country’s reputation is being trashed, while military adventurism and outright piracy are being committed by an out of control bunch of morons.
But prices keep going up faster than people like and THIS is the important epoch deciding issue?
Whatever it takes to rally people against the imbeciles in charge, I guess.
It’s worth remembering that economics (especially at the personal level) tends to trump (pun definitely not intended) all other concerns. People didn’t make mass switches to electric cars because they cost too much when compared to regular gas-powered vehicles (remember, too, that SUV sales dropped when gas prices skyrocketed and stayed high, only starting to see sales improve when gas became more affordable). Americans avoided solar panels because their prices were too high (not even factoring in the cost of installation) but when the government offered some subsidies to manufacturers and consumers, sales increased (and, of course, when the government quit offering said subsidies and tax breaks, sales plummeted).
Drumpf chose to make the economy his primary objective, accusing the Biden Administration of “keeping” prices too high and not doing enough to cut prices. (And, in the last year, Drumpf has done nothing except blame Biden for all the economic woes of the past year but taking full credit for the “all-time” stock market highs..)
