We live in a unique time in American history. No other generation of Americans has had to deal with what we have before us right now. Yes, our ancestors have had to deal with war, poverty, the Great Depression, pandemics, all the ills that the flesh is heir to, but never before now has any generation had to deal with a mentally ill man running to be our commander in chief — much less a mentally ill man who already was once our commander in chief.

As you’ve heard before, Donald Trump is running to run the country that he tried to overthrow when he ran it before, while he’s running from the law. And he’s not only running from the law, he’s one or two steps ahead of the men in the white coats with the butterfly nets. Millions of words and pixels have been written about this phenomenon and many millions more will be written. But for today, we’re going to focus on Trump’s comment about judging. Trump apparently thinks that judging a beauty contest and being a trier of fact and law are the same job. Whut? Precisely.

The tweet ends “disease, TDS, commonly known as TRUMP DERANGEMENT SYNDROME. Please reply here!!!” And yes, Trump did say something about Michael Cohen and he also mentioned Mark Pomerantz, who is a former Manhattan prosecutor who wrote a book about Trump, “The People v. Donald Trump.” Trump is forbidden by the terms of the gag order to talk about any of the witnesses, but child that he is, without control over his impulses, he is not expected to be able to remain silent. As the gag now goes, “Trump has the right to remain silent, he just doesn’t have the ability.” Let’s look at the days of the Miss Universe pageant and try to parse why he’s thinking of that portion of his life today, of all things. Rolling Stone:

Donald Trump was forced to sell the Miss Universe Organization – which also includes sister scholarship programs Miss USA and Miss Teen USA – in 2015 after his incendiary comments about Mexicans drove away broadcasters NBC and Univision. But Trump owned the pageant for nearly two decades, during which time he would have had the opportunity to come into contact with nearly 4,000 beauty queens.

On the heels of the damaging videotape on which Trump and former Access Hollywood host Billy Bush salivated over Days of Our Live actress Arianne Zucker, and joked about sexually assaulting women, came allegations that Trump entered the Miss Teen USA changing room where girls as young as 15 were in various states of undress.

Mariah Billado, Miss Teen Vermont 1997 told BuzzFeed, “I remember putting on my dress really quick because I was like, ‘Oh my god, there’s a man in here.’” Three other teenage contestants from the same year confirmed the story. The former pageant contestants discussed their memories of the incident after former Miss Arizona Tasha Dixon told Los Angeles’ CBS affiliate that Trump entered the Miss USA dressing room in 2001 when she was a contestant.

“He just came strolling right in,” Dixon said. “There was no second to put a robe on or any sort of clothing or anything. Some girls were topless. Others girls were naked. Our first introduction to him was when we were at the dress rehearsal and half-naked changing into our bikinis.”

Dixon went on to say that employees of the Miss Universe Organization encouraged the contestants to lavish Trump with attention when he came in. “To have the owner come waltzing in, when we’re naked, or half-naked, in a very physically vulnerable position and then to have the pressure of the people that worked for him telling us to go fawn all over him, go walk up to him, talk to him, get his attention…”

The Trump campaign did not offer a response to either story, but in a 2005 appearance on Howard Stern’s show, Trump bragged about doing exactly what the women describe. “I’ll go backstage before a show, and everyone’s getting dressed and ready and everything else,” he said. […]

The same year former contestants say Trump unexpectedly entered the Miss Teen USA dressing room, the reigning Miss Universe, Brook Antoinette Mahealani Lee, recalls Trump asking her about the looks of his daughter Ivanka, who was co-hosting the pageant. “‘Don’t you think my daughter’s hot? She’s hot, right?’” Mahealani Lee recalls Trump saying.

Also that year, Miss Utah, Temple Taggart, recalls Trump kissed her against her wishes. “He kissed me directly on the lips. I thought, ‘Oh my God, gross.’ He was married to Marla Maples at the time. I think there were a few other girls that he kissed on the mouth. I was like, ‘Wow, that’s inappropriate,’” Taggart told The New York Times. She says he did the same thing a few months later at Trump Tower, where he had invited her to discuss her career. To succeed in the entertainment industry, Trump advised 21-year-old Taggart to lie about her age. “We’re going to have to tell them you’re 17,” she remembers Trump saying.

These are just samplings of what Trump did when he owned the pageant. He loved the power, to be able to walk in when he wanted, taking the young women unawares, embarrassing them. That is the kind of profound, sterling, first class, diamond studded asshole that Trump is, but I guess to MAGA this plays out as Jesusonian. The MAGAs certainly compare him to Jesus enough.

Trump also was quoted as saying that, as the pageant’s owner, it might be his “obligation” to sleep with the contestants. He said this on Howard Stern’s show. Trump also boasted to David Letterman that when he bought Miss USA, “I made the heels higher and the bathing suits smaller.”

Cassandra Searles, Miss Washington 2013, recalls that when she was a contestant, the businessman demanded the women redo their introductions when they failed to look Trump in the eye. In a Facebook post this year, Searles called Trump a “misogynist” who “treated us like cattle” and “lined up so he could get a closer look at his property.” Other contestants from the same year, like Paromita Mitra of Mississippi, bolstered Searles recollection. Mitra commented, “I literally have nightmares about that process.”

This is who he is. And right now, for reasons known only to him, Trump is thinking about judges and judging and this is his frame of reference. Except now he’s not the owner of anything. He’s set up to do something he’s never had to do in his life before, which is to be accountable in a court of law. A criminal court of law, not a civil one. The rules are very different.

Maybe Trump’s issue is a feeling of powerlessness, do you suppose? Maybe, like the gals in the pageant, Trump is feeling like he has no control over the judges, or jury, and he simply has to hope for the best. Maybe that’s what this Bizarro World reference is to, is that kind of a feeling.

  1. Tramp lives in an alternate reality he created for himself.
He controls the narrative in his world, he controls everything. In his world he is the all powerful…the alpha and the omega .
Real life would render him a nobody…a nothing, which is what we all view him as. That’s a reality his narcissistic personality cannot handle.
So he created a world for himself, that his narcissistic personality can handle.
We are almost finished with him…..
November is coming, and not even his alternate reality can change the slaughter he’s going to receive by the American people. We reject his disease, we reject his fascism, we reject his lies when every Democrat goes to the polls in November.
Nothing less than a slaughter “the likes of which this country has ever seen” (his favorite quote) will do. The message must be crystal clear. Trump and his cult must be historically obliterated…..and it’s up to all of us who value our democracy to do so.
And we must make a calculated effort IN EVERY ELECTION GOING FORWARD that we will never allow a diseased individual to ever be elected into power EVER AGAIN!
