Trump Rolls Out Of Bed Playing Victim, Dog Whistling the Base

As has oft been noted, one characteristic that Donald Trump is known for is consistency. Today, the Monday morning that his criminal trial begins, is no exception to this rule. He’s still in his whiny, self pitying, victim mode. And it’s predicted that this will only continue and get worse. Will he violate his gag order and end up in contempt of court and possibly in jail? That’s what the world is watching with bated breath.

Trump doesn’t want to sit still and go along with the program. That’s the real problem, he wants to phone in his appearance and for the first time in his life, he can’t. It must be difficult to be facing reality for the first time a few months before one’s 78th birthday but that’s what we’re looking at here.

What is comical here is that if Trump can’t speak, meaning shout out in court whenever he feels like it, then his next impulse will be to whip out the phone and post on social media. He can’t do that, either. So he’s going to have to sit there with his thoughts and feelings and no way to process them. He’s going to go completely nuts.

And what is more ridiculous still, is that he’s not making himself look good to the base. They are cued to expect that Trump will do something amazing, somehow cow the judge, win over the prospective jurors, impress any and all bystanders by some incredible action or comment. And they won’t see that. What they will see is a meek, scared shell of a man, who himself is cowed and who just has to sit there and be quiet. That’s not their hero.

And from there it will only get worse. There are going to be embarrassing facts that are unearthed at this trial, some for the first time and some things that we have heard about in the past but have perhaps forgotten. This is going to be a Trumpian circus, but what makes it different is that Trump won’t be in control.

I think it’s a distinct possibility that Trump is trying to goad the judge into locking him up so that he can continue his role as martyr and get the small donations going. Also, it will fuel right-wing media, same rationale, get the money coming in.

That’s on the one hand. On the other hand, Trump knows he’s going to come out of this looking bad. Remember, he knows everything that happened, everything that could come out at trial. He just doesn’t know what will come out at trial.

What’s also happening here is his dog whistle to the base. He’s hoping that there are mobs of protesters in New York City today. He’s counting on it. If there’s nobody? Then that will just speak to how his very vocal MAGA minority is just that, a minority.

So he’s stewing. He’s not a happy man. Today is one of the worst days, if not the worse day, of Donald Trump’s life. And the days are going to continue to get worse. He’s got six to eight weeks of this. He’s not up for this level of stress or this level of confinement. All that Trump can do nowadays is get out on the golf course. That he can handle just fine.

And he’s also able to get chemically jacked up and get on stage for a rally. But beyond those two things, he is utterly incapable of any kind of focused, dedicated activity. Yet, paradoxically, this is a man who is being considered for one of the most intense, focused and difficult jobs on this planet, that of president of the United States.

Let’s see what good he does his campaign over the next two months with this trial. The camera that Trump loves so much and depends upon for everything is going to expose him for the fraud that he is.
