If you’re as long in the tooth as I am, you may recall a TV show from the ’70’s called “Laugh In.” One of the cliches from that show that emerged to become part of our slang was “sock it to me.”
Today the Biden White House socked it to the GOP hypocrites, much in the same manner as Mama socked it to the Harper Valley PTA — a wonderful song about hypocrisy, see the clip below, either for nostalgia or for the first time.
Marge Greene, Matt Gaetz and other GOPers have been incensed beyond measure the past few days over the fact that the Biden administration is forgiving student loans. They have ripped Uncle Joe up one side and down the next. His student loan forgiveness program is the ruination of western civilization to hear them tell it — those who know what western civilization is. Trump thought that the term pertained to hippies in San Francisco.
Greene: For our government just to say ok your debt is completely forgiven.. it’s completely unfair pic.twitter.com/V0yJWYSbot

Okay, Marge. We respect your feelings. And we’re sure that you’ll be happy to pay the government back for this loan of yours which they forgave, right? Right?
Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene had $183,504 in PPP loans forgiven.https://t.co/4FoCymt8TB

I’m sure the Department of the Treasury will take your check.
Congressman Matt Gaetz had $482,321 in PPP loans forgiven.https://t.co/XPgC0pETkp

So how many Republicans have now attacked Biden’s #studentloanforgiveness after having already suspiciously received massive PPP loans that were also forgiven. Marge, Bobo, Gym, Venmo enthusiast Matt Gaetz, all the usual suspects #MarjorieNaziGreene #LaurenBoebertIsSoDumb pic.twitter.com/5F4Cy1aHln

Look, guys, congress critters, if you really and truly believe that loan forgiveness is the end of all that is holy in this world, give the money back. No problem. Either that, or shut up about people receiving the same break that you got getting a break of their own.
I find it immensely reassuring that this administration is fighting fire with fire. This is exactly what we need to see more of, right-wing idiocy taken to task, immediately and no holds barred.
It’s the only thing that will shut these people up and it is lonnng overdue. When Donald Trump got elected, politics in this country morphed into something else. We can never go back. A pickle never goes back to being a cucumber.
We have to fight disinformation on the front lines and this is a terrific beginning.
As promised, here’s an ode to hypocrisy from the olden days of mini skirts and white boots.
Nostalgia. Thank U.
Did you enjoy that old tune? It’s the same thing, the hypocrites are out there screaming, while they’re getting the very same kind of benefit and hoping nobody notices. Human nature never changes.
In politics, timing is always key. And who would know better than Uncle Joe here? In fact, one aspect of the timing may be getting overlooked. Not only did he give forgiveness to the loans less than 90 days before the midterms, but he did after two years of leaving those loans on pause. Does ANYONE doubt that they’ll be clearing out yet MORE of that debt in the increasingly likely event of a big enough majority in both houses of Congress?
I think Marjie Kooky Pants and the rest of the hypocrite cabal need to be asked, in public, by the media “so, since you’re so against forgiving loans, you’ll be returning the PPP loan amounts that were forgiven on your behalf”?
That’s my point, exactly.
I want more than tweets. President Biden turned this back on a “journalist” yesterday and what I’d dearly love is for him to head to the podium in the WH Briefing room tomorrow with a presenation prepared of these asshats making their comments, and then citing the specific amount of PPP money they got and didn’t have to pay back. He could even do the killer line of the fictional President Bartlett in that debate where he took apart the Gov. of FL’s answer about federal (over) spending, pointing out that that state got a quarter of it’s budget from the federal government. He listed some contributors and slammed Ritchie (who’d made a disparaging comment in his answer about even Alaskans with their Eskimo poetry) with the Alaskan thing, and ended his respons with “I’m supposed to be using my time for a question so here it is – May we have it back please?”
Friendly reminder that you ARE getting more than tweets here, Denis. What we are seeing is the beginning of a full court press that will only get louder the closer we get to Election Day.
Brilliant fast WH response !!!!
Ursula, you bet ur bippy I remember Laugh In. I hada crush on Goldie Hawn.
Scott: Who didn’t have a crush on Goldie? I think I still do? I think the character she personified (a ditzy blond) was still smarter by far than a ditzy blond in the GOP I could name????
Boy that takes me back!
