Ursula…first let’s admit, given the immensity and ever changing reality we humans deal with, I’m no expert. I did major in Comparative Religion at UNC-CH, with scholars of ancient history, the gestalt of the times, and analysis of the texts available. My professors had also taught at Davidson, Princeton and so on. I minored in cultural Anthropology. I also went to see Billy Graham in Charlotte when I was a teenager. He converted me. I’ve been a follower of the Way ever since, with Jesus’ life as my lighthouse in the storms I’ve seen, storms we all go through by living. There have always been false prophets. People want easy answers to mysteries that never seem to end. In the gospel of John, Jesus is, once again, being confronted, as he was frequently throughout all the gospels, by the Jewish religious authorities. They insist he’s violated their rules about what God requires, and that he can’t act that way as they are the children of Abraham. He replies you’re right…you are the descendants who killed the prophets. He called them the children of the devil, who he calls their father. In John 8:42-47, he describes Satan as a liar and murderer from the beginning and when he speaks lies, he speaks his native language for there is no truth in him. Sounds like they do have a supernatural father…it’s just not abba, the word Jesus said regarding God. One more thing, just in case a cult member goes Old Testament on you…the first commandment, of the ten, is: Thou shalt have no other gods before me…uh oh!!!! In her bluster I counted at least two…Trump and herself. hadcibladaaaa…sorry. The spirit overcame me and I was typing in tongues.
