This is going to be interesting. The only real off year elections, often an early bellwether on national sentiment, were today. They tend to be considered a bellwether because they are the first real state elections that allow voters to vote as much on the administration and its accomplishments as the actual candidates on the ballot.
And the results are likely a canary-in-the-coal-mine for the GOP. Not just because the major statewide races were Democratic blowouts, but as much for how the GOP challengers ran their campaigns. And that is what should be worrying the GOP silly right now.
In the Virginia Governor’s race, as far as I know, Traitor Tot didn’t endorse, and he sure as hell didn’t campaign for the candidate. But that being said, the candidate refused to say so much as one word against either Traitor Tot or his MAGA movement, and as we speak, she’s busy updating her resume.
In New Jersey, El Pendejo Presidente endorsed the GOP candidate, who gratefully accepted the endorsement, and ran with flowery praise for Emperor Numbus Nuttus. This worked so well that he’s now sitting around looking for another different elective office to run for next time, since he’s lost three straight gubernatorial bids in NJ. I’m starting to think of this ass clown as the Danny Tarkanian of the Garden State, Tarkanian being a NV politician who has lost seven consecutive runs for statewide office.
But they have one thing in common. Both candidates refused to try to put even the smallest distance between themselves and Trump. And that is the nature of the beast, and the reason that GOP incumbents are facing an existential crisis going into the midterms.
It goes all the way back to the genesis of MAGA. When His Lowness announced his candidacy in the summer of 2015, he was the Roslyn Village Idiot. Everybody took turns taking pot shots at him. But I saw something nobody else noticed. In early polls, Traitor Tot had a rock solid 32-35% base. Nobody else in the 18 man field was above 7%. I was the first to write that if Trump kept his base, and if the field didn’t get smaller most riki-tik, Trump would bank enough early winner-take-all primary delegates to hand him the nomination. Never argue with the Big Dog.
When the path was clear, the first thing El Pendejo Presidente did was to consolidate. He took his sh*tty 35% base, and threatened to bolt 3rd party if the GOP didn’t coronate him. And then came the inevitable takeover of the GOP, turning it into the MAGA party.
And now it’s ironclad. When House Squeaker Cave-in McCarthy was in trouble, the first thing he did was to head to Mar-a-Slobo to kiss Tubby’s fat ass. And the same thing has gone for MAGA Mike Johnson. Make no mistake, Traitor Tot is the MAGA GOP.
Which is now a severe problem. NBC News came out with a new poll today. Trump’s approval rating is 41-54, 13 points underwater. Worse yet, when they ask who strongly supports or opposes Trump, he’s down 30-47. George W Bush’s numbers weren’t this bad in 2008, when he locked himself in the White House, rather than curse GOP candidates by campaigning with and for them.
But this is 2025, and it’s all Traitor Tot. Neither GOP gubernatorial candidate in VA or NJ made any attempt to distance themselves from His Lowness, and it cost them. In both NJ and VA, GOP candidates underperformed Trump’s 2024 numbers in the rural areas, but they didn’t stay home, polling shows they voted Democratic.
Traitor Tot spent three campaigns, 2016, 2020, and 2024 appealing to the underclass about how he was their champion, their warrior, and their retribution. But in the last year, not only has he totally ignored the people who elected him, he has viciously and soullessly created programs that are screwing them to the wall. An interesting sub tab from today’s voting. One of the issues that drove out voter turnout the most was Trump tearing down the East Wing of the White House. Trump’s mental meltdown is even pissing off his most devoted supporters.
And here sit the incumbent GOP class of 2026. And a rather stark choice. Piss off Traitor Tot and risk his wrath and likely get a primary opponent vs. wearing the Tot ball and chain in a general election. But tonight’s election results are showing in clear relief that even Traitor Tot’s base voters are sick of all of the sturm and drang, and his excessive abuses of his power. As ye sow, so shall ye reap, fothermudkers!

MAGA never ever had a solid foundation to lay a cornerstone to springboard from with any integrity. MAGA is made from defective and deficient base materials. Particularly when its father himself, springs from a defective line of stock. MAGA will implode from the weight of its own intrinsic defects, hopefully.

Very true. But McCarthy did it because he had to. For Johnson, on the other hand, kissing Trump’s ass is an act of perfect devotion.
