This is inspiring and uplifting. My heart sang when I heard this story.
It takes place in a small Arkansas town of 2,000 people. The two candidates for mayor are very cordial and their families have known one another for years.
This is what democracy looks like, right here. This is wonderful.
I can’t think of a better goal for a tiny town of 2,000 than getting its own grocery store.
The citizens of Earle are mostly African-American. Good for them to have a fine mayor, considering what a joke their governor is.
And already, with a high school education, Jaylen Smith is more educated than Lauren Boebert. And it goes without saying, more humble. And don’t forget, Michael Moore started out with an elective office at the age of 18. This young man may go places. He’s off to one grand start.
Sometimes there are good news stories. This is one of them.
I dream of the day when this isn’t a story because of his skin color or age. Racism & ageism reign supreme in the ‘land of the free’. Good for the voters who looked past the things the country as a whole can’t get past after 240 years.
What a wonderful story!! Good for their town who knew the young man was the best candidate. I’d love to see how Mayor-elect Smith begins, and with what project. He sounds like he’s going to be a great Mayor!!
