It’s true that every cloud has a silver lining. As besieged as I have felt about the economic developments that we are challenged with, to wit, the ad recession and the scourge of Twitter, Elon Musk, since posting this fundraiser I have touched base with many of you. Your kind words are beyond price and your generous support of the site is humbling indeed. On behalf of Murf, Mopsy, Denis, Dino and myself, thank you so much.
Here’s the reality of the situation: I will keep bugging people for money until we reach our goal. If you’ve already given, may the heavens open and pour blessings upon you. If you’re able to give even a small amount, that will be appreciated. If your means are limited, a cheery word and your continued reading of our work will be plenty. And get your friends to read us.
We are in business now because last year, when we had a good Q3 and Q4 I prudently stashed some money away for just such a rainy day as this one. I will take the funds we get from this fundraiser and stash them for overhead expenses. Then, we’ll have basic site costs covered and ad revenue will pay the writers.
Believe me, we’ve been in worse spots. Google AdSense had us on restriction almost three months in 2021 when the site separation took place, but Murf and Mopsy (I speak of Michelle Dale, whom I’ve always called by her nickname) and Denis and I were here and we pulled the Little Political Blog That Could through cyberspace for free. That’s dedication, folks.
Again, many thanks to those of you who have contributed. It’s heartwarming how many people love this little site. We are so gratified. And we’ll weather this storm as we have the others.

Linda, I assure you, everything is cool. I own this site. I own the account you sent the money to. I just don’t advertise my actual, legal name so the crazies don’t come after me.

Linda, if you’d bothered to reread your comment at the “We’re 20% Towards Our Goal” story before posting THIS comment, you wouldn’t have had to post this comment.
Ursula answered you there–pretty much the exact same thing she wrote on this page.
I understand the tendency to not revisit an article but, when you ask a question there, you SHOULD recheck the article to see if your comment was answered or acknowledged. She responded to you about 2 1/2 hours after you commented–and nearly 20 hours before you posted this latest comment. If you had wanted a personal response to your concern, you should’ve requested a reply by email or something; otherwise, it IS incumbent on you to recheck the comments that you make here to see if there’s been a response.
I’d like to toss in my own thanks to those who have pitched in to help ensure Ursula/PZ will be able to cover operating expenses. I know things are tough for a lot of folks so even small amounts not only help but are appreciated more than words can express. And one thing everyone can do that doesn’t cost a cent is to get people you know to come here and read some of the articles. Regularly. Each view of an article can add up into more revenue from the ad people. It takes a lot of views, so tell your friends and family about us.
Also, if you have an idea that you’d like to write an article about throw your hat in the ring. See that banner at the top? Click on Community and you can post something there. I’ll try to remember to check it each day as part of what I do and others should check it too. Sometimes stories/articles have been moved over to the main page. Ursula believes in giving good articles a shot at being widely read.
Finally, as moderator I have an ask. We’ve had a few people question where their donation has gone and the first person’s comment using a real name was in moderation so I was able to redact it before clearing the comment so everyone could view it. However a couple of other times a person’s name attached to the account was written in a comment that appeared automatically and I didn’t catch it right away.
Some of us on this site use our names on what we write be it articles or comments, BUT some people use screen names. Please, PLEASE don’t use real names on here unless you know a person uses their actual name on their work. On many sites including this one some people, including Ursula have been subject to harassment and even threats. And from people with a large following and/or platform.
So to anyone reading this, if instead of “Politizoom” as the recipient a name is noted don’t worry. However if you do want some confirmation to ease your mind feel free to email me or Ursula and we’ll be happy to confirm your donation has gone where you intended it to go. But please respect that some people prefer and even need a zone of privacy & use screen names. Don’t risk doxxing someone when there’s an alternative.
Absolutely correct, Denis, all of it. Definitely tell friends, family about us. We live by the click. If we get eyeballs, we do well.
For my part, I will see if PayPal will allow me to put an identifier on my account as being PZ or Ursula Faw. That’s a good point.
And thanks again to everybody who has stepped up to the plate and contributed. We will be chugging along a while longer. I just want to make sure that whatever Elon Musk does, if he literally dismantles the domain tomorrow, we will be able to absorb the blow and keep on moving.
I have been a patreon supporter for a long time. I know they get a cut of it, but if you are worried about where the donations go you can always start there. It is at the end of every article.
Patreon is good. They’re reliable, they’re insured and they get rid of a lot of headaches for a relatively inexpensive fee.
And there are always checks, or Zelle will allow somebody to direct deposit into a bank account. I’ll provide information for Zelle if somebody wants to email me at [email protected] and I’ll tell you how to get hold of my Zelle account. Then it’s straight from your bank to my bank.
I send Ursula a check for $100 at least once a year directly to PZ’s PO address, so I know the only person who get’s it is Ursula and her team. I couldn’t possibly be happier with how my teensy little bit of contribution to the cause are used. This is truly one of the best Political commentary sites out there, of either persuasion (I say that because of the devotion to the ACTUAL truth, as opposed to right-wing sites’ devotion to their own fantasies).
