It is true about the silver lining to even the darkest cloud. I was beside myself when I got an email from Denis a few days ago telling me that our Twitter posts weren’t even on Twitter, or they were showing up 12 hours after publication, rather than 12 minutes, which is the norm. Within the hour I got the same information from our ad person and Denis said, “Well, good. At least now you don’t think I was hallucinating.”

No, he wasn’t hallucinating. Dead Beat Musk hasn’t been paying necessary bills and so services have been iffy on Twitter.

But as to the silver lining: Since I’ve started this fundraiser a few days ago I’ve been touching base with many of you, some of you already friends, and some new friends I’ve made. Zoomers are a wonderful group. The emails I’ve received have been incredibly kind and supportive. Your support of this site and your generosity are humbling.

This fundraiser is our lifeboat off the Twit-tanic, which as of last night is the X-tanic. There’s a lot of black comedy over on “X” right now, scenes of the musicians playing as the Titanic breaks apart and I would be laughing, too, if we didn’t have a financial stake in all this.

Musk’s Twitter has caused us to lose 20% of our traffic since February and 34% in the past two weeks. And it is Twitter doing this. I pay an analytics company to monitor where we get what views from, what social media outlet, what country, what cities, even. And Google Analytics backs this company’s numbers with their own, so I know we’re getting the real picture.

In any event, thank you all so much, those of you who have come forward to support the site. For those who haven’t, if you can spare anything, that would be great. Many of you have come forward with more than than the requested $20 and that’s been wonderful.

The money is going straight into a brokerage account to earn 2.5% interest to keep us rolling. The money will pay the overhead and the writers will get paid from whatever ad revenue we earn.

As Molly Brown said, “I ain’t down yet.” We ain’t down yet, either, and we’re not going down. We will keep showing up here and posting and somehow we’ll navigate our way through this. This site has survived worse, we will survive this.

Send contributions to PayPal, [email protected]. Or if you want to write me at that same email address, feel free and and I’ll give you a physical address.

Fank yew, as the pooties say.

Help keep the site running, consider supporting.

    • Thanks are due to the kindness and generosity of this community.

It’s a shame we’re here. But both Zuckerberg and Musk put us here. Facebook has been unstable for a while and they stopped doing a lot of advertising. That put the industry into a tailspin and then Musk’s “stewardship” of Twitter is simply a freaking joke.
