I don’t know if this is the video that Murfster referenced in his last post on Kyrsten Sinema, but it is a powerful ad depicting fed up veterans resigning from her council. I have no more insight into her turncoat behavior than anybody else does. I can only surmise that maybe she forgot the first rule of politics, which is that the name of the game is staying in the game. You can’t get elected and behave the way she has with the no-shows at crucial votes, voting down the very legislation that would enable her to keep the promises that she ran on, so on and so forth.

She’s also taking a page from Martha McSally’s playbook, insofar as she is never available in her district office. One would think that Sinema, of all people, would know how far that got McSally.

Maybe the second rule of politics should be that of all the groups in the country to alienate, don’t pick the veterans. That is not a good choice.

I hate to see furor like this over a crucial Democratic seat but Sinema is doing it to herself and nobody can seem to talk her out of it. This is political seppuku if ever I saw it. She’s either going to have to do a 180 or hit the exit. Or, maybe it’s too late and she’ll be thrown out the exit.

  1. The danger is she’ll be there until the next election and, by that time, she will have taken a wrecking ball to everything that comes up.

She must know that she will have no real support from her own party – she might siphon off a few Republiqanon votes but not enough to make her a viable candidate.

She seems to have a poltical death wish – the question is why she is doing what she is doing – it isn’t going to benefit her. Maybe one of her corporate donors will give her a job once the gets fired from her current one.

  2. Sinema and Manchin are doing the democrats absolutely no good. They are however doing the party harm and quite a bit of it. All I read/hear is people saying that if the dems lose those two they will be a minority in the senate again. I do not see how that is any worse than having these two little prom queen wannabes stamping their little feet every time their corporate overlords pull their strings. The optics on these two are horrible. If it were only that maybe we could get by but it is much, much more than that. They are getting in the way of VITAL legislation-must pass legislation unless the dems want to lose the H.O.R., the Senate AND the White House. Democratic leadership must act NOW and pull all funding, access to donors, etc. away from these two corporate/oligarch shills. Sinema in particular made campaign promises she is breaking left and right. Get the f*ck rid of her dumb a*s.

      Really?

      REALLY?

You DON’T see how the Dems being in the minority could be any worse than it is now? Hmm. Going from the current situation to ABSOLUTELY NONE OF BIDEN’S PROGRAMS HAVING A SNOWBALL’S CHANCE IN HELL OF EVER PASSING? And you “do not see how” that is worse?

Wow! The Dems ARE in the minority, right now. If not for the two Independent senators (one of whom millions of “Democrats” wanted as *their* President), McConnell would be in charge and Biden would be facing a situation similar to Obama’s last term in office. And you can damn well be sure that another vacant Supreme Court seat would go unfilled until after the 2024 election unless Biden picked someone acceptable to the GOPers. And every last person that Biden might nominate for a seat requiring Senate confirmation would have to be similarly acceptable to McConnell and the GOP.

But, yeah. Let’s just encourage a Democratic Senate minority because it couldn’t possibly be “any worse than” the current situation.

  3. The smoke and mirrors have faded to more clarity … no matter what these two fools are saying, it’s what they are DOING that hurts our progress towards climatic controls, infrastructure security and independence … Using electric everything, burning Hydrogen fuels, cutting off ALL coal, oil products, limiting natural gas uses …

The makers, the younger nerds and brainy wave needs to be promoted to create solutions that will employ millions of workers, utilize our resources in a managed way, the outlook without this kind of a boost is bleak indeed …

  4. Political seppuku? Or political Sedoku…because nothing with Sinema seems to add up. [sad trombone].

I have never seen a freshman senator implode so spectacularly. I think we could find House members who have, but the Senate is typically populated by people adept at not fostering a 70% disapproval from their own primary voters.

  5. Sinema acts like someone who doesn’t care if she’s re-elected, and at this point, asking “why?” isn’t particularly useful. I think we should do our best to see that she gets what she wants—whatever it is, who cares; it’s obviously not winning re-election—and see to it AZ gets a Democratic Senator who actually wants the fucking job enough to work for the folks who elect them.

  6. I voted for her, with high hopes based on her campaigning. Now, I’ve signed on to the promissory note to fund any Dem primary opponent who might appear in 2024. I’ve just seen a report that she’s getting money from Republican billionaires, per the just released campaign report. My impression is that the only thing she goes for is whatever keeps her in the headlines and that she is working to get her golden parachute with no plan or desire to get reelected.

  7. Yup, so tired of these two grandstanding prima donnas keeping us bent over a barrel. Also damned tired of the media constantly Dem bashing because we ‘can’t get anything done’. Are we getting any help from any quarter, or just more of the 20+ years of repuQ obstruction? It takes two parties to accomplish anything, to move the country forward, to provide for the welfare of our nation. Instead of bashing Dems, how about putting the blame where it more appropriately belongs, with those who’d rather focus on conspiracy theories, insanity, Big Lies and nonsense.
