This is stranger than Doctor Lizardo. Actually, Lizardo made a lot more sense.

Rudy, as you know, is facing disbarment proceedings, has been banned from Fox News and his newest embarrassment is that he can’t recall where he read that the election was stolen. He believes it was Facebook but who can be sure of these things?

Nothing like ending one’s years a complete laughing stock. That would be a problem for anybody but for somebody on the cover of TIME as America’s mayor? Unbelievable.

  1. Yes, Rudy was hailed as America’s Mayor, but like, Donald Trump is a billionaire and successful businessman, a total media fabrication. All Rudy did as mayor of NYC was crack heads of mostly minority citizens (can you say “stop and frisk”?) and make the fateful decision of putting the city’s response center in the WTC Tower (7?), so he’d have a “stabbin’ cabin” to cheat on his wife.

Don’t forget the nickname he had amongst New Yorkers, “a thug with a comb-over”.

  2. Rudy did a lot more than that, he was successful in prosecutions of leaders of NY’s “Commission” of organized crime families. the Mafia’s international heroin and cocaine ring in the “Pizza Connection” cases, as well as high-profile political corruption and Wall Street criminal cases. His ego and the booze have destroyed him. The song “Memory” from Cat’s that trump liked to have played in the WH best fits Rudy to a tee rather than Donnie.

    • Rudy was as much a self-promoting camera hog in those prosecutorial days, if not more so than actual nuts and bolts prosecutor who did the grinding work. He created a lot of resentment and hard feelings up there in NYC for it. Not that he didn’t put in any work at all, but it bugged career professionals how he’d swoop in after they’d done most of the real work and claim ALL the credit. When actually in charge of a big case, like when he went after Congressman Charlie Wilson he came up pretty much empty. All that time and money trying to nail Wilson for drug use and influence peddling and in the end Rudy could only get one person to provide any damning information – of one instance of use of cocaine but outside the United States. The whole thing fizzled out – a precursor to his even more high profile “case” of election theft. Lots of stories but not credible ones and no actual evidence. Rudy and Trump probably became pals because they each saw the capacity for shameless self-promotion in each other. And it’s worth noting that at a time some serious stuff was going on with investigation into Trump and his company Rudy got the big donation from Trump that gave his then nascent “campaign” for Mayor credibility. Enough of a “war chest” to get other donors to take him seriously. After Rudy’s candidacy took off guess what? The investigation, much to the grumbling of career prosecutors who felt they were on to some serious stuff magically melted away. Just as I thought Trump was an asshole that was too full of himself and better at self-promotion than his professed area of expertise, in the 1990s I came to form the same opinion of Rudy as I’d formed of Trump back in the 1980s.

  3. delliot: Wow! As the saying goes “Live and Learn”. I never knew all that about Rudy, just what I read in his Bio but seeing how he is now I pretty much believe you. Thanks for the input.
