What a difference four years makes, 35,040 little hours, brought death, riots and horrors, where things used to be sane. The reign of terror of the past four years the disruptor in chief has been in office has been primarily psychological and the cultural narrative is nothing now like what it was before Trump came down the escalator. He shocked everybody during the primaries and since he has held the office of president, he has done nothing but grossly abuse it — hence the single article of impeachment he faces now, incitement to insurrection. We might recover from the economic and health crises he set into motion, but recovering from the spiritual and emotional wreckage is going to take a lot longer and be a lot tougher. The advent of Trump has ruined friendships and set families at each others’ throats.

Bloomberg interviewed four historians to get their take on Trump’s presidency and what his legacy will be. This is five and a half minutes well spent.

What these folks think is Trump’s legacy and what he thinks are wildly disparate views, needless to say.

The historians say Trump will rank in the bottom five. Off the top of my head, Andrew Johnson, Warren G. Harding and Herbert Hoover are probably ranked the lowest. I think Trump will bottom them. I am convinced he will be ranked dead last.

  1. Can we give him a negative 26 rating so the next 25 bad ones are still ranked better than him? Assuming we have a country and/or planet in the next couple hundred years, neither of which is a safe bet after 4 years of Stable PanDonic Genius.

  2. The most recent surveys of presidential rankings by ASPA and SI (which you can see on Wikipedia) pit Trump at 44th and 42nd…but both of those were 2018 before the two (TWO) impeachments. It’s a race to the bottom for his final place in history.

  3. There is no way anyone else will approach his combination of laziness, ineptitude, malice, racism, and dishonesty.

He is comfortably in the worst place position for evermore.

  4. So low he drops off the list. His only footnotes to history will be the only president to be impeached twice (!) and possibly the only one to be convicted in the Senate. Let’s hope.
