The die is clearly cast here. Vladimir Putin loves fake news and the progenitors of fake news, Fox News and others, love Vladimir Putin. The right-wing media lauds him, along with Donald Trump, on a daily basis. Here’s the lay of the land: Ukraine has been invaded — but not really, the fake news people would have you know. A Russian “journalist” asked an American anchor if he knew the definition of “invasion” and you’ll see that clip below.

This echoes perfectly the words of the Russian ambassador last night when the Ukrainian ambassador spoke of Putin declaring war and the Russian ambassador said, “This isn’t called a war. This is called a special military operation.”

So what we’re going to see here is the waging of a war on words, along with the usual tanks, bombs and bullets. What’s going to happen with the casualties? They’re not really casualties, they committed suicide by choosing to live in a war zone? I can’t wait.

“You cannot truly classify this as an invasion because there are no troops on the ground.” Yeah? Somebody want to explain what you call these tanks and soldiers? I’m listening.

Now let me tell you where this is going to get completely bat guano and fast: This is a war not only in the literal sense but it is a battle of truth v. lies, a war of words and images. This is fake news v. reality that is at war concurrently with Russia and Ukraine.

We are going to be bombarded with images. On the one hand, there are people in Ukraine, independent journalists and just people in the streets with cell phones and video equipment who will be recording this war and that’s an advantage. On the other side of the coin, there is going to be more faked footage, because the control of peoples’ minds are what is at issue here. Vladimir Putin is a wanna be Big Brother. If he can get enough people to believe that he’s not really invading Ukraine, he’s on a peacekeeping mission, then he will be Big Brother. And Ukraine will be just the beginning. And Fox News is complicit in this.

Here’s some of what was released yesterday, just to give you an example.

And another. Watch how at the very end one of the listless, clearly planted bystanders points to the sky.

You are going to be deluged with this. Get an umbrella and get a bucket which is designed to bail bullshit, because you are going to need it.

This is going to be the operant question in the days to come, what’s real, what’s fake. As stated, the good news is that there are enough people in Ukraine, armed with the ability to document events in real time, to get the truth out. But make no mistake, there will be plenty of faked footage and lies to accompany them. And of course, the Russian propaganda channel here in the United States, Fox News, will be doing Vladimir Putin’s bidding and broadcasting anti-American government propaganda.

If Putin and Fox News win, we will be living in George Orwell’s “1984.” Buckle up.

  1. What the hell is Rupert Murdoch going to gain from the Faux “news” stance on this? Why has he been so instrumental in tearing this country apart? It has to go deeper than profits but I just don’t know what that is. Anyone?

    • I think Murdoch is power mad. I think he would like to have an Orwellian society where he and Putin and the other billionaires on the planet run the place and control the governments. That’s just speculation but it’s a theory that fits the facts. He obviously is doing his un-American dirge for some reason.

  2. I am so sick and tired of word games, and employing soft sounding rhetoric for something as brutal as war is truly infuriating. You know the saying – if it looks like a duck, walks like a duck..Oh fuckit. Invasion vs. “Military Operation.” Potato, Potahto. It’s a fucking invasion so knock of the bullshit.

If it looks like an invasion, sounds like an invasion and is carried out like an invasion (complete with the accompanying destruction and death) it’s fucking invasion!

  3. I see this as yet another reason to be grateful Uncle Joe’s at the helm as opposed to the Orange Slug Who Shall Remain Nameless. As Murf pointed out, he’s been getting ready for this for nearly a year and he’s got most of the world on Ukraine’s side. We just gotta keep countering the propaganda AND giving Ukraine what support they need.

  4. The orange excrescence on the posterior of humanity would not only permit Vlad the Invader free access to every former part of the defunct USSR, he’d probably ask him if he’d like Alaska returned to Russia
