At least now you know the story. The backstory, how white people, or at least a certain segment of them, became so freaking paranoid, I don’t know. There are plenty of white people, myself included, who don’t feel we have to hide in a bunker surrounded by barbed wire, with the Confederate flag flying overhead, and stockpile bullets, while reading the Bible and sending money to Jim Bakker for pancake mix.
I don’t know where the other people took such a wrong turn, but I can tell you right now, right-wing radio is a big part of it. And the same crowd that listens to right-wing radio also buys into the evangelical prosperity consciousness nonsense and the two groups together intersect with MAGA.
I don’t know if gun goober fetishists like this have smaller than normal dicks (or for the gals tits) than normal and generally wouldn’t care. What I AM however confident of them is that they suffer from massive cases of penis (or breast) envy and think guns will make their sexual “equipment” grow to porn star dimensions.

Isnt the idea of ‘people know we have guns so we won’t have to use them.’ The exact attitude that created the Uvalde incident? It looked to me like the police thought that the possession of assault rifles was all they needed and they discovered that you also need a competent leader as well as trained and practiced agents.
I have yet to meet anyone who has an assault rifle who isn’t suffering from a major insecurity issue. Every single one is using the assault rifle to compensate for a real or perceived ….uh….shortcoming.
