I’ve been monitoring Truth Social for the requisite explosion which you know is going to come once Trumpty Dumpty gets wind of this latest treachery from a once dyed in the wool sycophant.

I’m sure you recall “In Trump We Trust: E Pluribus Awesome” a book which Ann Coulter penned back in the day when Trump’s star was in the ascendant. Now, Coulter has abandoned him.

And she’s not quiet about it. If she abandoned him and kept her mouth shut, that would be one thing, but trashing Trump openly on the airwaves is quite another. Get ready for some leviathan level blowback.

Here’s the 16-minute piece if you want to listen to it in its entirety.

Coulter of course has to share anecdotal evidence about “people coming up to me” and saying things like how disappointed they were that Trump didn’t build the wall. And I believe her. Trump’s signature plank in 2016 was that he was going to get the wall built and get Mexico to pay for it and all that happened was Steve Bannon found a way to rip people off for millions, and then Trump pardoned him.

Coulter is looking to save the midterm elections, evidently. Not a moment too soon. I’m sure she’s at the top of Mitch McConnell’s hit parade right now. MSN:

“Republicans, it’s not the party of Trump. It’s safe to come back, and it’s safe for Republicans to stand up and run without Donald Trump,” she said.

The conservative pundit predicted Republicans could enjoy healthy wins in the midterm elections if right-wing commentators stop focusing so furiously on Trump loyalists.

“People are angry. Republicans are really angry. We are on a smooth glide path to really, really good midterm elections, and the only thing that can blow it is what probably will blow it: the Republican Party,” she said.

Coulter’s message to Republican politicians and fellow conservative radio and TV talking heads was clear: Trump is over, so let him go.

“You don’t need to suck up to Trump anymore, conservative talk radio hosts, talk TV hosts, Republicans running for office,” she announced. “He’s done. He’s over.”

As I said earlier, I expect the blow back from Bedminster to be leviathan. The larger picture here is that Trump is a has been and he knows it. And right-wing media knows it. The Steve Bannons will hang in there and milk the last dollar from the situation, but Trump is the horse that won yesteryear’s race, he’s not the crown winner of the moment.

And he can’t stand it. He got to the pinnacle of world wide attention when he became POTUS and he dominated headlines for four solid years after that and to this day continues to lead news cycles. Attention is like a drug to him and it’s a drug that he’s going to be forced to withdraw from and it’s driving him mad.

I honestly think that this is what is fueling the acting out on Truth Social, is the fact that Trump misses the power and prestige that he once had and he’s going nuts over it. He’s either going nuts genuinely or he’s advocating the overthrow of the lawfully elected government, once again.

I hope Coulter is right and Trump is done. My best instincts tell me that we’re in for more bloodletting, figuratively at least and perhaps literally, before that is the case.

Help keep the site running, consider supporting.

  1. Coulter is many things but she’s a saavy grifter who knows her lane. So if she’s saying Trump’s done, he’s done. Otherwise, she’d be milking that same cow with the rest. That said, it’s WAY too late to save the midterms. Between depleted funds, garbage candidates, the biggest eff-up by the SCOTUS of all time and Trump’s neverending blather, the cake is largely baked. And that’s before you get into the galvanized Democratic party this cycle…

    • He might be done in the usual ‘pube circles but I seriously doubt trump’s base thinks he’s done. If trump decides to tell them to stay home, I’m willing to bet a good 1/2-3/4 will do exactly that.

This time I don’t think Ms. Coulter has been paying enough attention to the rabid part of the ‘pube party. Which is good, don’t get me wrong. I just don’t think trump’s base listens to Coulter. If, or should I say when, trump goes after Coulter (I’m sure her looks and intelligence will be the first things on his chopping block) his base is going to ignore her. That is if they’re not already.

      • HIS BASE DOES NOT MATTER.

They never have, never will. It’s why he always needed a buy-in from the non-believers and THAT’S what’s been cancelled. There are only three available fates for the hardcore going forward: 1) suicide run with LEOs, local and federal, 2) prison for blathering too much of their idiot plans on social media and 3) simmering resentment as they are pushed aside and cast out.

  2. I had hoped we’d heard the last from her, that having grifted her way to an undeserved fortune as a pundit she’d quietly live out her life. We haven’t heard from her for a long while now, but as I recall the last time we did she was critical of Trump – basically saying he’d fucked things up by losing focus on conservative goals/priorities and engaging in too much of his typical antics. THAT didn’t blow up into all that much with so much other shit going down as was usually the case during Trump’s time in the WH but I figured it made her personae non grata on the RWNJ media circuit.

How will it play out THIS time? That’s a different and more interesting question. I have no doubt at all that McConnell and others fervently hope that the same MAGA goobers who fantasize to pictures of Coulter in her flag bikini will have the Trump scales fall from their eyes. He’s probably on the phone to Murdoch BEGGING him to FORCE the Fox hosts, from the morning couch crew to the prime-time hosts of the Three-Hour White Power Hour to have her on each of their shows, say one every few days. It could maybe help some, particularly in the House which I think is now a coin flip on us holding it.

Of course, TRUMP himself could go after Coulter and call forth MAGA Nation to treat her as a witch – Monty Python and the Holy Grail crowd stuff (Burn her!) So McConnell is probably trying to get his mole(s) at Bedminister/Mar A Lago to closely monitor Trump and turn on cell phone jammers when he’s trying to type out stuff for his Truth Social or on other sites that will let him comment if he’s about to trash Coulter. I for one think Trump has been going ape-shit over this, AND that he will by god find a way to call out the troops to “go after” Coulter. And take what might have been a one or two day thing and make much, much worse – for himself!
