If there’s not a circle of Hell where an endless election audit drags on and on for eternity, then that is an oversight which the Devil should redress immediately. There is no better metaphor for endless torment than what is going on right now in Maricopa County, Arizona. It keeps dragging on and on and while that’s happening, all the stars in the right-wingnut firmament make their pilgrimage to the southwest, hoping for a miracle. The latest arrival on the scene is Georgia gubernatorial candidate Vernon Jones.

He’s intimidating the reporter, what else would you expect?

They laughed at the mention of private funding for a public audit because if the funding is private, i.e., dark money, then it’s liable to be biased, right? And since these guys are crooks, and biased, that strikes them as amusing.

The longer this goes on the more pernicious it becomes. The election results should have been accepted, as they always have been, after the election was called. This isn’t about the 2020 election anymore, it’s about whether democracy itself is dying a slow death.

  1. No, Ursula, it’s about finding new ways to keep the grift going, now that it’s obvious Trump is beyond anyone’s ability to take seriously. Given that there are no true successors to the Mango Throne (nor will there be in the current obscene joke that is the GQP leadership), it’s all they got left.

  2. Republicons have absolutely nothing to offer when questioned so they basically react with “Look over there!” During Season 12 of “RuPaul’s Drag Race,” there was a challenge on the 9th episode where the queens were running a presidential campaign and they were to engage in a debate, “moderated” by Jeff Goldblum and Rachel Bloom. At one point, contestant Jaida Essence Hall was asked a question by Goldblum and her initial response was a bit of a nothing-burger and she finally yelled “Look over there!” and pointed off-stage and EVERYONE actually looked in that direction. Hall knew she had a “catchphrase” and yelled it a couple of other times, especially if Goldblum was asking the question. That catchphrase was a key part of her being declared winner of the challenge. (Hall would pull the “Look over there!” bit at a couple of other points in the following episodes, including the season’s finale.)
