Donald Trump has a history with policies impacting vapors in this country, and – truthfully, he did what some call one of the biggest accomplishments of his former administration. Indeed, Trump did raise the vaping age limit to 21, while also making flavored vapes somewhat more difficult to get approved. These policies were beneficial as the numbers of teens who started vaping plummeted and hit vaping companies in the pocket. Then Trump got paid. Very recently. And feel free to be as cynical as you probably should.
Magically and maniacally, Trump’s new-found dedication to the vaping crowd comes about through a lucrative “policy-based” analysis that comes from… Checks notes… in favor of Big Tobacco – which is synonymous with big vaping. Did you expect anything less? According to The Washington Post’s brilliant breakdown:
Yet Trump’s new posture is consistent with the recent financial support he has received from the tobacco industry. As The Washington Post reported this week, the biggest corporate donor to the primary pro-Trump super PAC is a subsidiary of Reynolds American, the second-largest tobacco company in the country.
Yes, Trump now favors vaping so much so that he bragged on Truth Social that he saved vaping in 2019 and he would do so again. Of course, he’s following the money – again, and yes, his biggest PAC donation (!) comes from the diabolical Reynolds subsidiary, who according to the Post “met with Trump on several occasions in 2023 and 2024, including a lengthy meeting earlier this year in New York.”
Okay, but what gives? He is in favor of supporting vape while keeping quiet about the meetings with Big Tobacco? Well, it is off-putting to blab about being subservient to the largest nicotine distributors in the country… even if one is a user. Big Tobacco is also Big Vaping. R.J. Reynolds also distributes vaping products. Conveniently for Trump, that is where the growth lies into the future. Trump is a little twisted in priorities given his unquestioned “win” because banning teen vaping was a major public health success.
Meanwhile, the Harris campaign had no comment. Annnd well? No thanks. The exploding vape market is a big issue in this country. Trump only hides the donations (poorly) and then pronounces his support of vaping bigly. He does so over the dubious assertion that vaping is less dangerous than traditional tobacco.
Meanwhile, this is a topic that Harris needs to address, despite it being a minefield in the search for voters.
While we’re on the topic of self-medication, it’s noteworthy to consider this in the context of the burgeoning marijuana industry. Here, too – people will be upset no matter what policy may come to “light.” But there is a trend that both parties follow.
Harris has flip-flopped on the issue but she is now determined in her support for legalizing marijuana. Meanwhile, Trump appears to support of legalization. He favored Florida’s push toward legalization. Both may be seeing the light because their pathway mirrors the public’s changing views over legalizing marijuana.
So, on the all-important nicotine question, a drug more addictive than nearly all others, the Trump administration may be showing its subservience to “big money” more than the big principled approach of his last tenure. Meanwhile… We don’t have much from the Harris campaign because the Post’s feature would’ve been a great place to announce it. And they did not. It is quite the minefield out there, perhaps silence is well thought out by the campaign but not a service to voters.
It’s just too bad that Trump announced that he’d run from one of the few big accomplishments of his administration. Follow the money.

He may get something right, occasionally, but I would NEVER take health advice from him. Neither should anyone else, for that matter. Nor should they trust him on any health issue.
NH Kelly Ayott, running for governor, just stated today that she will not legalize pot. Dumb move. We’re surrounded by states where pot is legal and instead of making money for the state and decriminalizing it, and perhaps letting those in prison for possession out of jail and cleaning it off their records, she is saying she won’t legalize it. I hope she loses a ton of voters over that and lying about her stance on abortion.
Yes, yes don-old is a whore.
