Curiouser and curiouser. The man who loves the spotlight, who lives for the red light on the camera, is becoming a recluse? That would be the conclusion that one would reach, just from the actions Donald Trump has taken today.
He didn’t show up in court and when the judge asked Trump’s lawyer if he intended to show up, perhaps to testify in his own defense, Joe Tacopina’s response was, “I’m not sure.” The judge was not pleased with that response and told Tacopina to get an answer this week so that matters of security could be dealt with appropriately.
Then there’s this: Trump announced on his Truth Social platform that, in essence, he had no intention of attending any debates. What in the world is up with that? He was fully expected to clean Ron DeSantis’ clock in a debate. Who is making these decisions?
Of course Trump won't be willing to debate.

Trump evidently thinks he doesn’t have to debate DeSantis.
He would just further incriminate himself as he does every time he speaks. I’m sure his legal team advised against it. He will May go where he controls the narrative and even that proves to add more charges or solidify the existing ones ! He can’t help himself!

I don’t think his legal team is on board for this. I think that anybody who wants him to sail through the nomination process over DeSantis is expecting a cage match between him and DeSantis. Nothing less will do.
We’ll see where this one goes. This is not the Trump of yore, eager to insult a whole field of candidates, one after the other. He doesn’t want to show up at all, unless it’s on his terms.
Could he possibly be scared to debate DeSantis? Now that is something that nobody has contemplated before. Or, maybe he’s not scared of DeSantis, maybe he’s simply terrified of being out in public in any kind of a scenario where he might have to actually answer for himself and not simply be in front of adoring MAGAs. Maybe that’s the change in Trump that his Manhattan arraignment wrought. He now does not want to be anywhere where he isn’t there to be worshipped, period.

You nailed it right there.
One thing we know is that Trump is a coward. It would be a hard enough thing for anybody to get arraigned, but for a coward like him, he died a thousand deaths.
Trump wants to be in front of the MAGAs getting the adoration but no way he wants to actually defend his record in a debate. And he’s got no new policies. You hear the gibberish that goes out on Truth Social. That’s the extent of it.
Here are my predictions:
1. Trump will not be on the ballot in 2024. I doubt he’ll even make it to the primaries. By the time he loses to E Jean Carroll (early May), is indicted by Jack Smith (May-June), indicted by Fani Willis (July-Sept) and sees Trump.org shut down by Tish James (Oct-Nov), he’ll be a soggy mess.
2. DeSantis won’t be on the ballot either. He may make it to the beginning of the primaries but he won’t be popular and he won’t see them out because he’ll be indicted for kidnapping refugees, illegally transporting them across borders and leaving them stranded in a dangerous situation. On top of those federal felonies, he’ll also be indicted for misusing federal funds to finance his crimes. The investigation was opened back in February I think it was so they should be a fair way along with it by now.
Intriguing they are, but who does that leave? Mike Pence? Nikki Haley? If you’re right it’s going to be an even wilder ride than we have anticipated.

Awww, wouldn’t that be a shame. While some might slather over the opportunity to experience the unpleasantness of a tRump/Duhsantis match up, it would be a relief to not have it in our sphere. Even if you don’t watch the event, it will be repeated ad nauseum on every station, in every interview, etc, particularly the most ugly, cruel, hateful parts. I can barely manage to listen to two sentences from that 4ker now. The past debates were painful to watch and listen to, so no thanks, I’d rather have my skin ripped off, slowly.
