Ron DeSantis has a new PAC now, Never Back Down, and the video you’re about to see has been broadcast by them a few times already in the past 24 hours. It’s getting a lot of views on Twitter but ultimately will probably fizzle and here’s why: the Cult doesn’t care how often its leader reverses on any given position.
They are satisfied that their Orange Overlord is indeed their Orange Overlord and they don’t care about anything else.
Trump grabs the MAGAs on a visceral level at a deep place and that is the source of all the madness in politics that we see nowadays. Do not expect it to change. Trump gives his viewers/disciples a performance that they love. He is their collective id acting out in spectacular fashion, all the time. That’s the show they pay to see. Ergo, don’t look for this to make much of a dent.

Of course DeSantis was “great.” Mike Pence wasn’t a pussy, either, until the day came when he wouldn’t follow Trump into illegality. Then Pence went over the cliff and fast. That’s how Trump is. He’s Mr. Transactional in all of his relationships. That’s his baseline, that’s his norm.
Or, who knows? Maybe this is Trump preparing for a killer, unexpected ending to GOP Primary ’24, which is that he comes out and endorses Ron DeSantis for president and retires for good, either to Mar-a-Lago or whatever correctional facility he’s assigned to.
You have to admit, that would be a real showstopper.
