You’ve heard me say that a pickle never goes back to being a cucumber. That is said with respect to how the level of civility in our nation has gone straight into the sewer since Donald Trump came on the political scene in 2015. We have become a far more profane, crass and vulgar nation than we ever were before. It’s sad and it’s a shame.

What is even a bigger shame is that 2024 is going to take us down another couple of notches. It’s inevitable. Trump is a liar and a propagandist. Joe Biden knows he’s got to fight fire with fire. If there’s one mistake that Hillary made, and hindsight is always 20/20, it’s that she didn’t fight fire with fire. She didn’t want to descend to Trump’s level or roll in his mud. I’m not saying Biden will descend to Trump’s level, but I believe he understands the necessity for abolishing Marquess de Queensbury rules of decorum and facing the Mango Monstrosity head on. Here’s the warm up for what you’re going to see all year. Trump is rebutting Biden’s speech in Pennsylvania earlier Friday.

Listen closely to this one. He starts to say Bernie. At least he’s not saying Obama, that’s an improvement.

Once again, I define sophistry, “the use of fallacious arguments, with intent to deceive.” Fallacious is “based on an incorrect belief.” A short word for them both is “bullshit.” And nobody bullshits more or better than Trump. He is a steaming, orange pile of pure, 180 proof bullshit.

And if you cast your mind back to 2016, when he believed he would lose, he was talking the same way. He “wasn’t sure” if he would accept the election results. It “would depend.” Back then he was banking on launching Trump TV off of the Big Lie that Hillary cheated and stole the election. It wasn’t his year for Trump TV. And probably that window of opportunity has closed forever. We will never know what would have happened to Trump if America had gone down the road not taken in 2016. We can only speculate.

But we can say with a great deal of assurance what will happen in November when Trump loses again. You’re hearing the set up right now.

Now this is priceless. Trump identifies with the workers. “We’re workers.”

His “job” is to ask for money. Donald Trump needs your money more than you do, so give it to him. No lie. He got right on Truth Social after Letitia James gave her closing argument and asked the court for a $370 million verdict, plus a ban on the Trumps doing business in the State of New York. You think Trump’s going to pay for that? Puh-leeze. And none of the MAGAs bother to think it odd, apparently, that this billionaire, this self-made genius, needs their money.

We live in the most bizarre time in the history of our republic, friends. Take careful note. Write it all done for your great-great-grandchildren. Many Ph.D. theses in the areas of psychology, sociology and political science will be written on the things that you and I are living through right now, on a daily basis.

  1. There was no stuttering on Biden’s part, it was a figment of turd Trump’s psychopathic mind. Biden honed the focus on the fact that the lying, grifting, turd Trump is still trying to make himself, a democracy destroying psychopath, relevant and fashionable, and Biden resonated with the truth that “… beyond what may be a transient mask kerfuffle is that Trump didn’t just set the tone for defying authority or generally acting like an asshole. The truly deadly thing he did, in and to our society, was to put down the psychopath marker and use it to call together his neurological tribe. … A psychopath, for all practical purposes, believes that he’s quite literally the only “true human being” on planet Earth…” [Thom Hartmann, 15 June 2021]. And yes, as you’ve astutely written “… Many Ph.D. theses in the areas of psychology, sociology and political science will be written on the things that you and I are living through right now, on a daily basis…”. Good article you’ve penned, Ursula.

  2. This is war! VOTE!!! It’s already been paid for by heroism none of us, thankfully, can imagine. All that is required is for us to know the truth, the facts, and consider informed opinion about the unknown future. VOTE!!!
