Donald Trump can’t expect the obligatory convention bounce after last night. In fact, he’ll be lucky if he gets a convention blip. Overnight Nielsen ratings are in. Trump’s acceptance speech, the longest in history and a real snoozer to boot, was not an attention grabber.

You won’t hear a peep from the Republicans about this. If they don’t win, they’re silent. They only speak when there’s something to crow about and ratings — as important as they are to Trump — are not it.

  1. I knew it. All the more reason to have hope that their message is not selling anywhere new. I keep having this niggling thought that trumps base only came out for the fun of, “owning the libs” together, and now that the rallies have fizzled away, I wonder if they will even vote for him in large numbers. I just have a weird feeling about it, I can’t shake it.

  2. Someone on DK commented that trump could still be speaking, since all the networks cut off at an hour. For some reason that makes me smile.

  3. Bill Palmer has a theory that Trump might actually get a NEGATIVE convention bounce out of this. That would be the final insult to his pride.
