It’s always so interesting to go over to Truth Social. Through The Looking Glass doesn’t even begin to describe it. It is a totally different world over there, with different rules. Donald Trump must have had a bad night because he did a massive posting ritual on Truth Social and usually that indicates stress. Mary Trump says Uncle Donald uses social media to process his feelings and if that’s the case, then Donald had a whole lotta feelings happening in the past 12 hours or so.
Why would that be? Hegseth screwing up? Patel screwing up? Epstein files looming? Elise Stefanik battling with Mike Johnson? All that and more? In any event, click into this Truth Social post. We are told therein that “the Venezualan president just publicly surrendered to President Trump. Maduro is releasing proof that Biden asked the Venezuelan government to ship Tren De Aragua gangs into the U.S.” Only seeing is believing.

As you see, Trump posted it. He seems to believe it, but this is far and away not the first time that something totally false has been endorsed or amplified by Trump because he thinks it’s true. Or wishes it was true because it suits his agenda.
There’s also a defamatory post about how Gavin Newsom and wife allegedly “created an NGO just to STEAL fire aid money. And not ONE PENNY has been given to fire victims. Newsom is lower than low.” Naturally Trump amplified that post.
It’s complete fantasy land over on Truth Social with the Pied Piper of conspiracy theory leading his cult. Again, as I’ve said ad nauseum, the problem we face in this country is that we’re listening to two different narratives of reality. At least back in the Watergate era the facts were the facts. The facts were not disputed and they were damning.
Nowadays, no matter what happens, there are two versions of what took place, the actual version and the conspiracy theory spin. This is why this country is in the political mess that it is.
But what’s to be done? St. Ronnie Raygun got rid of the Fairness In Broadcasting doctrine and that opened up the way for Rush Limbaugh to make an industry out of disinformation. Then along came Fox News, which has been with us over a quarter of a century. So listening to lies has become commonplace and so many people believe so many of the lies.
And the low information, no information people live in fear of imaginary boogymen. And they vote Republican, because they’re told that the left wants to steal their children and give them transgender operations and other batshit idiocy.
It really is as simple as this. But with right-wing media being a billion dollar industry, I don’t see it folding anytime soon. Which means that independent and mainstream media have to get the truth out there.
