Well, from what I’ve heard, Jared Kushner showed up on time this morning for his remote interview with the 1/6 committee. And while committee member Elaine Lauria wouldn’t give specifics, she did say that Kushner was cooperative and forthcoming. The reporting I heard had him testifying in the morning, and then they broke for lunch, and he came back for more in the afternoon. That doesn’t sound like a resistant witness to me.

There is good reason for Jared to be forthcoming and honest. He has no risk in the investigation. Shit, he wasn’t even in the west wing on January 6th, he was on a State Department aircraft coming back from Saudi Arabia. So obviously, he had no direct hand in the events of the day, and therefore no legal exposure.

That being said, if Kushner was in fact honest and forthcoming, he’s a potential gold mine for the committee. Because he was one of Trump’s closest and most trusted advisors. Mainly because Kushner has a smooth and erudite line of bullshit, and Traitor Tot can’t comprehend most words more than 7 letters long. If it sounded complicated, Trump threw it in Kushner’s portfolio. If you think I’m being sarcastic, remember this. His Lowness actually still thinks that fucking taco bowls are a native Mexican dish!

But Kushner is still a potential goldmine for the committee, simply because being so close to Trump, he was almost omnipresent in the west wing and Oval Office in the desperate weeks between the election being called for Biden, and January 6th. Jared can give the committee a detailed blow-by-blow of who said what when, what was plotted and what was rejected, and most important to prosecutors, Trump’s possible criminal intent as part of a criminal conspiracy.

And the best part is that, if Kushner is being forthright, there is no way that he can claim attorney-client privilege. Kushner isn’t a lawyer. And even if Trump was talking to Ghouliani, Eastman, or whack job Sydney Powell, if Kushner was in the room or listening in, then the privilege is automatically waived. And while Kushner was a close advisor, executive privilege won’t wash either, because trying to overthrow a free and fair election is not a normal presidential executive function.

Personally? I don’t think it will take long before some of Kushner’s testimony starts to find its way into the public. It’s not classified, and the committee has been fairly free in releasing snippets of testimony when it suits them. My best guess for what’s next? If Kushner was forthright and polite, and if the committee was polite, then I look forward to a press release in the next week or two that Ivanka Trump’s testimony has been scheduled. She also has nothing to hide, and was reportedly furious at her father for letting the 1/6 carnage to continue. Who knows what she can tell them. Don’t touch that dial.

  1. I’ve said multiple times that unlike Trump, Jarvanka had solid legal representation from the time they joined the administration. Hell, before that even! Of course this IS part of the Trump Criminal Org. and there’s the fact that Jared isn’t nearly as smart as he thinks he is and Wannabe Princess Ivanka isn’t as savvy as she believes herself to be either. That’s why they lost one of the most highly respected white collar lawyers in DC (Jamie Gorelick) as their chief legal counsel. She got fed up so Abbe Lowell took over and he was no slouch but somewhere along the line he seems to have disappeared into the Witness Protection Program. Still, unlike Trump I think they pay their legal bills and have maintained decent lawyers to handle various matters and have racked up considerable billable hours.

Here’s the thing I’ve wondered about ever since the summer of 2017 though. Unlike the Trumps, Kushner has visited a federal prison to see his own father. He might not know what it’s like firsthand to live on the other side of the glass but he’s been close enough and seen/heard enough that there’s no way in hell he has any intention of getting firsthand experience at being an inmate instead of a visitor. He will throw Trump, Wannabe Princess Ivanka and anyone else in Trump world under the bus in a HEARTBEAT if his lawyer(s) tell him the only way to say out of prison is to do so. His wife might think she’s got Jar-Jar wrapped around her little finger along with daddums but she’s sadly mistaken. And frankly, if the Jared domino falls she will drag her own lawyer out of bed in the middle of the night and march into the DOJ itself DEMANDING to get a sweetheart deal in exchange for throwing everyone else including her daddy under the bus.

If Jared was forthcoming, and if as I assume questions went beyond Jan. 6th itself and delved into who was meeting/talking with who in the weeks up to and after the election a lot of assholes are puckered up tight tonight. Jar-Jar parlayed his time in the WH to get him and his family financially bailed out of that disastrous real estate deal in NYC. He doesn’t need Trump money or connections anymore. He’s got his own now. Sure, he sold classified material to some shady heads of state in the middle east but let’s not kid ourselves — that’s a case that will never be brought to court. He probably is however liable for matters that don’t require testimony/evidence from those middle eastern honchos and he’s now officially on the record on a number of things – again I’m pretty sure tossing others under the bus. And my guess is that he will as the saying goes have receipts. I hate the idea of him getting a deal and not doing any time but if he can bring Trump and Trump World crashing down I’ll live with it. Some trade-offs really suck but sometimes you have to take a bite out of the ole shit sandwich before getting to flush the rest of the thing down the toilet.

  2. IF he is forthcoming. How many times did he LIE on his applications for a top security clearance? He’s a snake. I don’t trust snakes.

  3. Because lying to congress is a federal rime…And Kushner didn’t LIR on his applications, he OMITTED certain things…Two complete;y different ball games mate…

    • Given Kavanaugh lied before congress along with others & Flynn walking, stone walking, Bannon free, meadows’ contempt gathering dust, etc., I’m very skeptical kosher is quaking in his shoes. OK he omitted. I know from experience that’s just another way to lie, especially given he did it repeatedly after getting called on it for a TOP security clearance. Then there’s the fifth. Excuse me if I don’t hold my breath if he gives them nothing important on his FATHER IN LAW. Nothing wrong with hope. Some people are sure they are going to heaven & already know everything about it. OK. Good for them. I remain skeptical.
