Man, the fur started flying immediately this morning. Donald Trump and his lawyer, Alina Habba, were due in court at 10:00 a.m. They arrived ten minutes late, which drew a reprimand from Judge Lewis Kaplan. Then, as closing arguments began, Trump got up and stormed out. Maturity, thy name is not Donald. The Messenger:
“The record will reflect that Mr. Trump just rose and walked out of the courtroom,” Kaplan declared.
The judge then instructed Trump’s attorneys at the defense table — and his associates in the gallery — to remain seated. […]
E. Jean Carroll’s lead attorney thundered to jurors that the former president acts like he’s above the law.
“Donald Trump, however, acts as if these rules or law just don’t apply to him,” lawyer Roberta Kaplan said.
In the wake of a $5 million verdict for sexual abuse and defamation last year, Trump didn’t stop going after Carroll.
“No, not at all,” Kaplan said. “Not even for 24 hours.”
It can only be conjectured that that was what sparked Trump to get up and run away, because that’s when he left. Meanwhile, Alina Habba kept contesting Judge Kaplan’s rulings and he’s fed up with that. The instant conflict came from when slides were being shown and one slide had been omitted. Habba protested, claiming that counsel for the plaintiff, Roberta Kaplan, had stipulated to the admission of the slide. That prompted Judge Kaplan to comment, “You are on the verge of spending some time in the lockup.” “Sit down.”
Sit your ass down, honey, and shut up. This judge is not fooling around.
The issue of damages was under discussion. Perhaps this is what made Trump leave.
She says that the damages for the fear that Carroll lived with are separate and apart from the $12.1 million they want in reputational damages.

Carroll's lawyer then shows Trump's CNN town hall the following night with @kaitlancollins, citing to ratchet up the damages against him.

what sparked Trump to get up and run away? Cowardice comes to mind rather quickly. I don’t credit him with anything approaching intelligence but even a fly knows when it is going to be swatted when it sees the fly swatter coming toward it. I expect he is starting to realize his ass isn’t going to be saved from all the trials, maybe from none of them therefore he runs like the scared little baby he is.
