I’ll make this short. I long ago stopped tuning in to watch entire episode of Saturday Night Live. (I’m an old fart who remembers the original version/cast) I figure in the internet and social media age any good skits will be mentioned and I can watch a clip. Such is the case with last nights Weekend Update, a segment that has been part of every show from the beginning. They’ve created a GREAT nickname for Trump I hope will go viral. The word they invented is Fatmentia – as far as I’m concerned it fits the Trump we’ve been seeing for a while now perfectly.
The Daily Beast published a short article about last night’s SNL regarding this. You can check it out if you want but I’ll include a clip here, which will I should add has more about the rally than in the clip shown in the link. But to stay on point this is why I’m posting:
Saturday Night Live’s Michael Che told the coldest joke of the night during “Weekend Update,” at the expense of Trump’s alleged health problems.
“This week, President Trump claimed that ‘affordability’ is a new word made up by Democrats to hurt him,” Che said. “But if Democrats really wanted to make up a word specifically to hurt Trump, it would probably be ‘Fatmentia.’”
Che showed a fake screenshot of a dictionary website, making clear that ‘Fatmentia’ indeed referred to both Trump’s weight and his apparent cognitive decline.
Trump is fat. Yeah, I’ll say it because I am too. I just don’t lie about it and try to claim I’m only ‘239’ pounds. Trump I’ll wager weighs every bit as much as I do, but I’m a legitimate six feet four inches tall. He’s maybe six feet at most. Trump is also clearly sliding more and more into dementia. Just like his father. Fat and demented. Fatmentia is the perfect way to describe Trump’s medical condition given his fatness and demented (Fatmented) behavior.
Trump is mad. HE and people he hangs out with don’t have any trouble at all buying whatever they want. Of course in Trump’s case since he sticks US with the bill for so much, like his constant golf trips it’s even easier than for his pals. He’s angrily kept repeating the mantra that Affordability is a hoax. Fake news. He’s pissed because even MAGAs are speaking up saying that there IS a problem. That it HAS become extremely difficult if not impossible to afford the lifestyle they got used to having.
Well, somehow he got convinced to hold a rally in which he’d at least say something to the effect that at least some people were having a tough time, but he was on the case and they’d just have to put with it ‘for a while’ but all would be ok. Someday. Some undefined time next year. They told him he didn’t have to MEAN it, just read the script and spend ten or fifteen minutes on the topic so MAGAs would think he actually cared. If you followed the news about the rally you know he couldn’t even do that.
After barely mentioning affordability he then went off script and did his usual unhinged combination of free-assoctiation and inane rambling about whatever popped into his head. Even by old rally standards he left both the couple hundred (funny how/why they picked such a small venue) in attendance and his MAGAs watching on TV were muttering ‘what the hell was all that?’ They may not have been, or still are really thinking about it but here’s the thing: They saw an old, fat man with a face painted some weird orange color ranting like crazy grandpa when off his meds. They saw a fat, demented Donald Trump. They saw fatmentia.
THAT is what SNL’s Weekend Update brilliantly and devastatingly highlighted. Trump saying Affordability is a new and made up word (it’s neither of course) AND creating an actual new made up word that all too well describes Trump and his condition. Fatmentia (the first part also covers the rally – the Fatmentia part starts at the 1:30 mark):
This is a show where Trump can’t help himself. He watches, if not live then a recorded version. He knows he won’t like what’s said about him but like people driving past a bad car accident he feels compelled to look at the carnage. If this Fatmentia thing goes viral this week it will drive Trump batshit insane. So, naturally I’m going to do my part (use both that and ‘Fatmented’ – to describe something Trump says or does) and I hope you will too.
Spread with friends, co-workers. Hell, if you’re just shooting the breeze when out and about and someone mentions prices bring up Affordability and Trump trying to tell everyone it’s not real. THEN drop the Fatmentia bomb on them! Get on news show anchors and pundits social media feeds and bring it up so THEY will talk about it on the air. The more it’s out there the more it will kick Trump when he’s down. I don’t feel bad about advocating that because doing it to others his entire despicable and miserable life has been one of his greatest joys. I say turnabout is fair-play you orange painted asshat!
Friends, I know everyone begs you for money. I promise, among all those asking for spare change, we are the smallest and the hardest working. We’re a group of old, disabled people, except for one writer in his mid-50s. The rest of us are in our sixties and seventies, and this is a labor of love. All we’re asking for is the chance to keep telling the truth about Trump and help ensure democracy survives. If you can help, please do. Thank you. Ursula
