When is the last time you remember Donald Trump being quiet? You don’t remember? Neither do I. If he’s not haranguing Liz Cheney, Ron “DeSanctimonious,” or the evil liberal media, he’s decrying his own innocence and playing the victim.

He specializes in playing the victim. He’s practically turned this into an art form. He did this on Twitter while it was still Twitter and now he’s doing it on Truth Social, which is currently hemorrhaging money.

All of this must sound like music to the ears of Special Counsel Jack Smith, who just discovered a new way to torment the former president even further. Dang this dude is clever.

He’s discovered that Trump even claimed election fraud probably happened during his successful 2016 campaign, new court filings show, according to Raw Story.

And yes, he’s going to use this evidence against Trump. It couldn’t happen to a nicer guy, could it?

Tuesday, Smith filed a disclosure notice that details historical evidence the lead prosecutor intends to introduce in the Washington, D.C. federal court case against the former president, according to court records.

“These statements sowed mistrust in the results of the presidential election and laid the foundation for the defendants’s criminal efforts,” Smith argued. “in addition to this intrinsic evidence of false statements about the election, the government will offer evidence reflecting the defendant’s historical record of making such claims.”

“The defendant’s false claims about the 2012 and 2016 elections are admissible because they demonstrate the defendant’s common plan of falsely blaming fraud for election “results he does not like,” Smith writes, “As well as his motive, intent, and plan to obstruct the certification of the 2020 election results and illegitimately retain power.”

I have to wonder, since Trump is so desperate, what other lies has he told? I’m sure the media has barely touched the surface on that, even though The Washington Post did a comprehensive report that noted he told more than 30,000 whoppers before he left office.

Smith cites one tweet in particular, posted by Trump on October 17, 2016, a week after the Washington Post published the explosive “grab them by the p*ssy” which most of us thought would sink his campaign. How he survived that, I’ll never know. And his tweet is pretty damning.

“Of course, there is large scale fraud happening on and before election day,” the then-future president wrote, per the filing. “Why do Republican leaders deny what is going on? So naive!”

That same month, during a presidential debate moderated by Fox News’ Chris Wallace, Trump was asked if he could accept the election results. Smith definitely wants to submit Trump’s response. It’s easy to see why he wants to use this.

“There is a tradition in this country — in fact, one of the prides of this country — is the peaceful transition of power and that no matter how hard-fought a campaign is, that at the end of the campaign the loser concedes to the winner,” Wallace said.

Wallace followed up with “Not saying that you’re going to be the loser or the winner, but that the loser concedes to the winner and that the country comes together in part for the good of the country. Are you saying you’re not prepared to commit to that principle?”

Trump answered coyly, saying “What I’m saying is that I will tell you at the time. I’ll keep in suspense. Okay?”

This didn’t sit well with Hillary Clinton, his opponent, who blasted him.

“Let me respond to that, because that’s horrifying,” she said. “You know, every time donald thinks things are not going in his direction, he claims whatever it is, is rigged against him.”

Clinton said this in 2016. She absolutely understands Trump and she was completely right.

So yes, Trump is likely sweating over this, or at least he should be. But Smith is going after even more blood. He also intends to include voter fraud claims going all the way back to 2012 when former President Barack Obama defeated his GOP challenger, Sen. Mitt Romney (R-Utah), and a creepy media interview in September 2020 when a journalist once again asked Trump if he would allow a peaceful transition of power.

“Well, we’re going to have to see what happens, Trump responded, the filing notes. “There won’t be a transfer, frankly; there’ll be a continuation. The ballots are out of control. You know it.”

And as we know, the rest is history, which as history often does, led to bloodshed and domestic terrorism of the worst sort.

Too bad more people didn’t listen to the smart woman. Clinton can read Trump like a book and she was completely right.

For every Donald Trump, I’m glad there’s a Jack Smith.
