Trump is like a man trying to bat about 1000 gnats away from his ears this time while he’s campaigning in desperation. And it doesn’t seem to be working very well, since he keeps stepping on his crank. In his golf shoes.

At the moment the national polling shows Traitor Tot cruising to the GOP nomination in the 2024 primaries. The last NBC poll I saw over the weekend shows El Pendejo Presidente holding 51% of the primary vote with Florida pocket dictator Ron DeathSantis eating dust at 22%. This is down nine points from the last poll. As I said previously, to know Ron DeSantis is to not want to know Ron DeSantis. But when you dig a bit deeper, there’s frigging in the rigging, even in these numbers.

I wrote and predicted at the time that Trump would win the 2016 primaries for a simple reason. He was consistently polling at anywhere from 32-35% in a 17 man field. The RNC runs almost exclusively winner take all primaries. So the Orange Julius could rack up an early formidable wall of delegates before the field winnowed down. Nobody could touch him. Trump got four disastrous years as President, and since then has become something like the Chairman Emeritus of the GOP, and is considered the monolithic leader of the GOP.

Which begs the question, What’s with that 51% sh*t? It was one thing for The Mango Messiah to pull out primaries in 2016 with 35% when he was the Roslyn village idiot. But seven years later, you have GOP incumbents and RNC members who are willing to flay themselves with a cat-o-nines rather than defy the Cheeto Prophet. If the entire GOP is that far under his thumb, why isn’t he polling in the 70’s?

But it is already obvious that FrankenTrump is distracted by his legal problems is by the fact that, on the more and more rare occasions that he steps out of Bedminster to campaign. The fact is that pretty much everything that the 2024 GOP primary field are campaigning on are toxic in a general election, but it’s what plays with the insaniac base.

Trump is under no such compunctions. Trump is the prohibitive front runner, already at 51%, the race is his to lose. And Trump is already a seven year long known entity. He built his base on a very specific line of bullsh*t, and that’s what still plays with the base. The base is all you need to survive the primaries, why deviate from a winning script?

The script is so simple. His recidivist troglodytes love to hear Trump talk about punching people out, putting somebody in jail, and about how black people are stealing all of the good seats in school and college from their kids, and horning in on their unemployment and welfare benefits. Oh, yeah. And how all of those nasty brown people are all drug dealers, and stealing all of those high priced jobs picking fruit and vegetables, and cutting up chickens that they’re lining up for.

That’s what works, and it’s all Trump needs to do to cruise to the nomination, so why suddenly start switching gears and start talking about sh*t that will just confuse them?

Because Il Douche is distracted by his federal indictments, they’re driving him nuts! Now when Trump blathers, he can’t resist babbling about how he’s a martyr, how he had every right to the documents under the Presidential Records Act, and that when he got indicted, he was taking the hit for them! Now when Trump talks about indictment, that’s something a good chunk of his base can understand, since many of them have been under one, but it’s got to be kind of hard for such simple hobbits to figure out how Trump stealing documents and getting caught was taking a hit for them?

We’re just getting started. Because Trump’s constant obsession with his federal indictments, while possibly shoring up his street creds with the base in the primaries, which he doesn’t need to do, is going to kill him in any eventual election. Because a recent national poll showed that 54% of registered voters think that it was right to indict Trump federally. And that included 26% of registered GOP voters. The last thing that Trump should be talking about is his indictments, but he just can’t shut up. And the Democratic general election attack ads write themselves.

Next, like many 77 year old men, Trump is starting to suffer from a balance problem. Hell, I’m only 66 years old, and thanks to my glaucoma, I have balance problems. But not the same problem. Trump is suffering from a bank balance problem.

Running for President is an expensive business, but Trump is a prolific fundraiser. Unfortunately Trump is being squeezed by legal bills for teams fighting the Florida indictments, trying to fight possible DC indictments, defending him in Manhattan, and fighting for him in Georgia. And let’s not forget the NY Ag and her civil lawsuit.

All of that takes money, and a sh*tload of it. But sadly, since Trump is a world class deadbeat, his lawyers are demanding cash retainers up front. At least the smart ones are. The problem is that fundraising for an election requires that the funds be used for election related expenses, and not outside legal fees. MSNBC reported today that His Lowness is about to be federally investigated for misappropriation of federal election funds.

Here’s the funny part. Before announcing his candidacy, Trump set up a Leadership PAC, and fundraised the sh*t out of it. A Leadership PAC would allow Trump to legally withdraw funds for his legal fees. But when Trump filed his paperwork, and officially became a candidate, he had to give up control of that PAC. Trump can’t touch those funds, and whomever is running that PAC is prohibited by FEC law from forwarding any of those funds either to him directly, or to his campaign.

Here’s the cherry on top. A year after the SCOTUS decision that overturned Roe v Wade, the anger over the ruling hasn’t cooled. In fact, if anything, it’s even more intense than it was a year ago. A recent NBC News poll showed that 87% of pro choice voters were highly motivated to go to the polls in 2024 to support abortion rights, while only 52% of pro life voters were highly motivated to use abortion as a reason to go to the polls. That is a whopping 35% enthusiasm gap on what will be one of the hottest issues in 2024.

So why is Trump, who is coasting to the nomination, going around shooting off his mouth about how he personally overturned Roe v Wade when everybody thought it was impossible? He doesn’t need to do it to win the primary, and the polling is showing that the single issue Evangelical voters are not being motivated by abortion to show up for Trump and vote in 2024.

Trump is only going to get worse as this campaign goes on. The Mar-A-Lago documents case is an existential threat to his freedom, and judge Cannon in Florida seems to be amenable to a mid December trial date. Trump will keep right on not only convicting himself out of his own big, fat New York mouth, but he’s keep right on providing the Democrats to defeat himself out of his own mouth next November. Don’t touch that dial.

Help keep the site running, consider supporting.

If you think Trump isn’t going to get all the funds in that PAC one way or another, I’ve got a bridge to sell you. Just sayin’.

  2. It’s becoming much harder not to reach the conclusion that in their continuing support of Dimwit Donny, republicans are a bunch of racist morons.

  3. He’s craved not just attention & love his entire life, but UNCONDITIONAL forms of both. Also, as with anyone addicted to alcohol or drugs there’s never enough to satisfy him. The best that can be gotten a temporary high or fix, and over time the effects last for a shorter period of time. Those rallies that were the signature of his first run for the WH and the subsequent ones were the worst thing that could have happened to this particular addiction of Trump’s. Well over an hour of roaring worship from a big crowd. UNCONDITIONAL worship. I’d be willing to bet one of the things he thought was that he’d never had sex that was so satisfying! Covid forced a partial withdrawal from his “drug” of choice and rather than use it to wean himself off it and walk the path to recovery he’s tried to recapture that for him glorious time and high/fix. But the magic isn’t there anymore.

People/venues are on to him and wanting the money it costs to stage one of those 2016 style rallies upfront. Being the cheap bastard that he is even if he didn’t have the cash flow problems he’s got he is reluctant to cough up the dough. So smaller venues, and he’s no longer able to fill even those! Plus, although there’s still some enthusiasm it’s simply not at the level it used to be. So like a one hit wonder rock “star” that becomes a pathetic caricature because there was just that one hit song and a couple of others that were just barely enough to keep the crowd from leaving until “the big one” instead of creating new material he keeps going with the old routine that lost its novelty. And the onetime fans might still show up now and then if they have nothing better to do that night, hoping that maybe there will be some new material and finding it’s the same old stuff & even the big hit doesn’t rock their world anymore politely cheer and clap but that’s all.

That’s where Trump is now. Like the crack addict hoping that the next “rock” he smokes will produce that awesome, never felt anything like it high that first time Trump is desperate to find a new “rock” to put in the crack pipe and it’s smaller and watered down from the stuff that the dealers used to give him! But he’s incapable of change, or looking at the long-term picture. Worst of all for him is like the pathetic aging rock star who at least had a decent manager that set up some financial protections to keep him from blowing it all, between some nice annuities and royalties there’s enough to surround himself with an “entourage” of enablers who will stick with their meal ticket and enable him – until the money runs out.

    That’s Trump and the GOP.

  4. Seems like the dynamics of Trump and the MAGA’s have changed. In 2016, the MAGA’s needed Trump with his promises of hurting the right people. Now, it’s Trump that needs the MAGA’s and the MAGA’s probably don’t need him as much as the Republican Party. And the Republican Party needs the MAGA’s more than the MAGA’s need them.

Wow, what a bunch of needy people.

  5. Cheeto man knows winning the base means winning the primary-doesn’t take a genius to know that one. That doesn’t translate to winning the general.

Now, should the state legislatures in red states finish setting up their cheating mechanisms, well, that’s a totally different story.

  6. A large percentage of GOP voters claim to support Trump because he’s the candidate “the libs” dislike the most. I suspect most of them know he has no chance of winning the general election, but as long as he’s leading in the GOP polls, the party is afraid to take him down. And let’s face it, there’s no strong candidate among the also-rans that voters will rally around.

  7. I don’t think the teabaggin’ base is confused . If you can believe Jesus died for your sins and send money to the televangelicals why not Trump as a “Cheeto prophet” ?

  8. I’m amazed how he gets a bunch of evangelicals to cheer him on. When he begins with, “I’m being indicted for you,” that’s their kind of message. No one can seem to do it like him. Those folks just love a messianic message.
