Take a good look, folks. This is an historic occasion. What you’re seeing before you is something that has never before been seen in Canadian diplomacy. Donald Trump has managed to completely alienate and utterly piss off the entire country of Canada. Yes, we’ve all heard his propaganda, that Canada is simply jam packed with people who are dying to become America’s 51st state. Same with Greenland, they’re dying to be ruled by Mad King Donald as well. It’s all bullshit. And other countries don’t want to be dragged into this circus. They’re appalled at having to watch it from the sidelines.
But I must say that this cover of Le Journal de Montreal floors me. I am dead certain that this kind of rancor is reserved for people like Stalin, Hitler, Castro and I can guarantee that never before has an American president been so depicted on the cover of this magazine.
The French on the cover translates as: “He pushes his closest ally towards recession.” Which indeed is exactly what Stupid wants to do. The United States and Canada have a vast trading network, this is nothing new. We’ve always had a symbiotic and healthy alliance with one another. Until Stupid came along and threatened to upend the apple cart.
And I give it up to Justin Trudeau. He’s taking a page from Claudia Sheinbaum’s book and they are both humoring Stupid.
This is how it’s going to be. Humor the madman. Remember the words of British historian Bertrand Lewis, “It’s risky to be enemies with America but it can be fatal to be its friend.”
Stupid is as stupid does. And what is ironic is that if Canada ever were to become an American state, it would have scads of House members and they’d all be Democrats! That’s the hilarity! And I’ve no doubt that both of their senators would be blue as well. Or maybe there would be two senators for each province. It’s all an imaginary exercise, this will never happen, but even in the realm of fantasy this is Trump’s worst idea ever, is my point.
Oh, God, it’s going to be a long four years. And I think it’s entirely possible that the Canadians hate Trump worse than the Democrats do — if that’s possible. In any event, they absolutely hate him as much, I think that’s a fair statement to make.

Oh yes indeed, the Canadian hatred of Trumpler is visceral and permanent. It’s also justified. Most Canadians are sane people who are now trying not to let that hatred spill over onto Americans as a whole. But that’s hard: far too many Americans voted for this criminal thug, especially as this was the 2nd time around. Trump’s lies about “subsidizing” Canada and about its border are bad enough, but if his idiotic tariffs go into effect, that will be the end of the old and valued friendship between the two nations. I haven’t seen any Congress critters standing up to defend their ally, any more than they’ve been standing up to defend their own govt.
It’s tragic. I am so embarrassed. I have never been ashamed to be an American before now.
Yes, you’ve got it right, Ursula. Most Canadians detest trump and are astonished that Americans would re-elect him. We should have studied Bertrand Lewis. We got sucker-punched by someone we regarded as a close friend and won’t be forgetting it any time soon.
Regardless of what happens in the US, Canada will begin to unhitch its wagon and move to build new and stronger trading relationships with other countries. That includes the EU, Japan, SE Asia, Australia and other countries of the Pacific rim, not excluding China.

Every bad hallucinogenic trip I ever experienced, and they were rare, only lasted a few hours. That being said, at least I received training on how to endure when I had no control. This one has lasted nine years and counting. Now I have to practice shutting off communication with this phucked up country, and its immoral selfish people, and spend my time playing with children. I read a quote by Dr. Suess, when asked why he hadn’t written more books for adults. He said: adults are just obsolete children and the hell with them. More wisdom.
