We are going to see an amazing confrontation in our government between the Knows and the Know Nots. The pure tragedy of this situation is that there are so many people who have held high office or who currently hold it, who never passed eighth grade Civics. Apparently.

One of these is the guy who was the 45th POTUS, you remember him. He just came out and openly refused “to partake” in an investigation by Jack Smith, the Special Counsel appointed Friday by Merrick Garland. Um….don’t you know you don’t have any choice, Donald? You are not above the law and you will obey the law, because that’s what the rule of law is all about?

Sigh. Why bother. He doesn’t get it and neither do his minions. Marge Greene immediately took to the tweet box to scream in all caps IMPEACH MERRICK GARLAND! because she doesn’t get that what Garland did is perfectly legal to do and, as he himself stated, something that he did because this is the kind of situation that the Special Counsel mechanism was created for. But forget about logic and common sense. We’re talking MAGA here. Fox News:

“I have been going through this for six years — for six years I have been going through this, and I am not going to go through it anymore,” Trump told Fox News Digital in an exclusive interview Friday shortly after the announcement. “And I hope the Republicans have the courage to fight this.”

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! The last thing “the Republicans” want to do is fight this. They want you gone. If the only way to get you gone is to have the Democrats do it, so be it.

“I have been proven innocent for six years on everything — from fake impeachments to [former special counsel Robert] Mueller who found no collusion, and now I have to do it more?” Trump said. “It is not acceptable. It is so unfair. It is so political.”

“I am not going to partake in it,” Trump told Fox News Digital. “I’m not going to partake in this.”

Trump, who announced his 2024 presidential campaign on Tuesday, said it is “not even believable.”

“I have never heard of such a thing. They found nothing. I announce and then they appoint a special prosecutor,” he said. “They found nothing, and now they take some guy who hates Trump. This is a disgrace and only happening because I am leading in every poll in both parties.”

I guess he’s referring to Jack Smith as “some guy that hates Trump.” I wonder if that language appeared in an ad anywhere: “Help Wanted: Looking for bulldog special counsel. Qualifications: Must hate Trump. No exceptions.”

Politics just got wilder. Let’s see how this affects the Georgia senate runoff, which right now is the prize. Let’s keep our eyes on that.

  1. Merrick Garland is not an idiot. Wile he hs said that the reson for the Special Counsel was to avoid the appearancee of partisanship, and that certainlt is a factor, I suspect the main reason is the GQP’s noisy intentions of investigating (translation: harassing) anyone in the administration who has accomplshed anything positive. They will find it a bit harder to investigate a Special Counsel. While they are making the DOJ’s like hell, the Special Counsel will progress.

  2. Overlooking the fact that the impeachments were real and actually happened but he was ‘acquitted’ by a totally biased ‘jury’. Maybe he think.s that being charged and tried doesn’t happen if and when he gets his sorry ass dragged into court

Also, Mueller did NOT ‘clear’ him.

As for ‘finding nothing’ the FBI sort of found find boxes of documents that he had stolen and took them away.

He won’t ‘participate’?? Like he’s going to have a choice when he Feds arrive with a warrant for his arrest

  3. I would LOVE Hillary’s reaction to this.

Poor widdle Donnie. No one in the whole history of the universe was ever more mistreated than he’s been. Not Jesus. Not Martin Luther King. Nope. Donald Trump is being so “persecuted” over such trivial matters as possible illegal political collusion with a foreign government and trying to bribe a foreign government to make up information to hurt a potential political rival (for which he was impeached) and then riling up his supporters into attacking the Capitol building with the intent on stopping a legal Constitutional procedure (for which he was again impeached) and then, most recently, having been caught with government documents which he had NO legal reason for possessing.

  4. Well there are two categories of US Presidents. There is the largest category named two term Presidents and then there’s the second and much smaller category named one term Presidents Mr. Trumps greatest sadness must be to belong to that small august group. Sad.
