The stupid bastards just can’t help themselves. Project 2025 is a roadmap to the basic demolition of the federal government, so of course!, you tell the country what you’re planning on doing so they can stop you. Makes perfect sense.
Same thing in Georgia. Like several other GOP controlled states, they’re all tinkering with ways to use GOP dominated state and county election boards to screw with the certification by throwing up bogus election integrity claims and throw everything into a court morass that could threaten the actual Electoral College certification on January 6th.
In the dark the darkest deeds are done, and all villains flee the rising sun. This isn’t something you advertise, it would spoil the surprise. That would be like leaving the cruise tickets you got for her anniversary gift laying around on the kitchen table a month before your anniversary.
So of course the stupid bastards had to test drive it. Back in May a GOP election board member refused to certify the primary election results due to election integrity questions. Under threat of court action, she eventually relented and certified the results. Bad enough, but then the dim bulb had to go and file a lawsuit in state court trying to gain her rights to withhold her certification vote if she felt pissy.
Oddly enough, the case was heard by state district court judge Scott McAfee, the same judge overseeing the Fulton County prosecution of Trump et al. Judge McAfee sided with the Georgia Secretary of State that Georgia election law is black letter law. It doesn’t say that the election boards can certify the results by the required date, it says that they must certify the election results by the required date. End of story.
But it’s the judge’s ruling on the woman’s main assertion that sets the template for state courts around the country when dealing with Traitor Tot’s lame shit. Her complaint was that she shouldn’t be required to certify the results if they had legitimate questions about the integrity of the election. The judge agreed that there was nothing illegal about having legitimate questions about the integrity of the election, but the solution to that issue was to go to the States Attorney’s office and raise your concerns with them. Investigating election fraud is their job, not yours.
Traitor Tot’s MAGA GOP is the living proof of Stupid is as stupid does. In 2020 His Lowness threw legal spaghetti against the wall 64 times, and went 0-64. That humiliation led to the decision to actually test drive election board shenanigans in the primaries so they could fine tune them before November if needed. But by tipping their mitts early like that, they gave states and legal groups like Marc Elias’s Democracy group time to go to court and deal with it.
One last thing. This suit has nothing to do with the Georgia Election Board’s recent rule changes, but on the other hand it has everything to do with it. Because those rules changes conflict with the same Georgia election law, and Judge McAfee just ruled on who wins that pissing contest. Sanity prevails.
I thank you for the privilege of yur time.
